I know he got extended the qualifying offer so he's restricted now. But, I say offer him the full MLE and see what happens. Not sure he could play the 5 much, maybe a little bit while we wait for Perk to come back. I really think this kid could be a stud if he comes in ready to learn from KG. Obviously he has a TON of talent, but he just hasn't been in a perfect situation yet. This could be it. Man, I'd love to see him in Green next year. I like Brad Miller and obviously he's more of a 5 than Thomas, but Tyrus offers that long-term upside that not many on the MLE wire offer. C's do it!

Ye yes yes. Tryus reminds me of a bigger Dennis Rodman. This guy can fall out of bed and get you a double double every night. He could be a great rebounder but does he want it? He has been deemed uncoachable by the media but if the C's turn that around and give bim a post up game, skys the limit ofr this kid in Beantown.

if he played consistently as well as he played against us in the first round last year he'd be an all star. could doc get that out of him?

What about David Lee? He's 23 and one of the most efficient players in the league(3rd overall,I think.)Averaged a 20-10 last season and the Knicks aren't looking to resign him, with the Lebron Sweepstakes and all

David Lee would be a dream signing but we most probably can't afford him.

I think C's will go for Brendan Haywood and he's not a bad option.

Not really. If we manage to get a decent replacement for Ray with the MLE, we can force a team looking for some 3 point shooting and depth at the SG spot to S&T Lee for Ray and Sheed's contract.Maybe the Knicks, since they own his bird rights

Well, I'm assuming that Ray won't leave Boston. I don't see a good, long term replacement for him that we can get for MLE.

I wouldn't get too excited about him, because I think he would be tough to pry away from Charlotte for a price that is reasonable given his red flags, however, if Danny could sign him, I would be ecstatic (although still a little worried he will completely quit on them once he gets paid).

I really want the C's to find a guy like Tyrus or Hickson who can hustle and sky for the alley oops and match up with Rondo's athletic game.

The upside to a guy like Lee is that he can shoot. I'm not sure Tyrus can shoot, but I really like him as a guy to chew up minutes and become a hustle guy. His price tag would be reasonable too.

good athleticism and energy, but tt doesn't seem to have a high bball iq, which is something danny covets. he takes bad shots, stops the ball, misses the pass, and his defense is streaky.

i'd also rather have david lee if we could afford him.

There have always been rumors of him being a dog, and having attitude problems.  He has clashed with coaches, and there have been grumblings that he doesn't love basketball, he just wants to get paid.

This quote certainly didn't help things, when he was chosen for the dunk contest a few years back:

Quote
"I'm just going to go out there, get my check and call it a day... I'm just into the free money. That's it. I'll just do whatever when I get out there."

More than that though, what worries me is his uneven play.  For a guy as talented as he is, he has not been able to sustain a high level of play for anywhere close to an entire season.  If they are giving him the entire MLE for 5 years, I would certainly be concerned that he will never be a consistent impact player.
