Seems like the possible options at backup center are lean at best. Would Jermaine O'neal be a possible candidate? Hes not the player that he used to be, but he is still a decent scorer and can grab some rebounds.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Can't stand his attitude, and his game is half-arsed at best ... the bloody fool is too selfish to fit into this defensive scheme, too. If faced with only a poor choice like JO, I'd rather keep the stautus quo, and respectfully decline.

These are the very same comments people are making about Sheed halfway into last year's regular season. Hmmmm, and now we all commend Sheed for being a hero for us in the playoffs.

I really don't mind Jermaine, he is certainly younger than Wallace,Brad Miller, and Shaq and frankly, with us being so thin in the middle, any veteran bigman will do until Perk comes back fully healthy. Jermaine is even better Offensively than Perk, He did his disappearing act in the playoffs only bec Perk exposed him but with the C's, he will be playing alongside Perk and KG so frankly, at the right price, who in their right mind not want JO.

His detroit brawl still bothers me. I won't root for that man or even want him near boston.

We must not be in our "right minds". ;) I never liked his selfishness and arrogance before the brawl, but that sealed it for me ... don't want him as a Celtic.

Completely agree, (TP's for both) ... and welcome, Celtsette! Jermaine has been a hothead and liability wherever he's been, and has been an under-achiever since his career began. Of all the prospects I've heard lately, he's my least favorite, and I don't want him in green.

This guy is finished. Bad injuries, not heart,no hustle, he's definetely no Celtics material.

He is my least favorite player in the nba now that Sheed is retiring.  He's a jerk and a choker.  Plus his body functions like it's about 50 years old.

I'd take Jermaine as a back-up center, temporary fill in for Perk if we couldn't get Shaq, Miller, Chandler, etc.

Sadly he's one of our best options.  If you could get him and Shaq to split the midlevel it would be a successful offseason in my opinion.  They should be able to man the 5 spot until Perk gets back.  They'd also give you the size needed to play the Fakers in the Finals, even if they're coming off the bench.

When you're this close to being a championship contender you care less about character if the talent and size will bring you over the top.

A backup player is the only way i would want him in Boston, coming off the bench. He's not reliable enough to make him a starter health wise and committment wise.

one or the other would be dissapointing, since I don't think either of them can handle 30 minutes a night, but getting both of them would be great.

TP's to all.  Sadly, I think he's just a bruiser now, looking to "muscle" and start fights with opponents.  Watching him play in the first round only confirmed that his skills are gone, and he's trying to be a tough guy.  He used to be a good player...now he's a thug.

I'd be very happy with Jermaine O'Neal as a fill in center for the C's.

Unless we're moving KG to C and signing an athletic rebounder to play the 4 we'll need a fill in till Perkins is hopefully back.
