Finally!

Quote:
Want to watch Daniel Orton and Stanley Robinson play for the Orlando Magic in the Orlando Pro Summer League? Get your TVs ready. All of the games will be televised for the first time in the summer league’s history. Turner Sports publicists said each game will air live on NBA TV. Basketball fans can watch No. 2 overall pick Evan Turner and No. 3 overall pick Derrick Favors make their professional debuts. Turner’s Philadelphia 76ers and Favors’ New Jersey Nets will play each other at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 5. The Magic’s summer-league team will have Orton and Robinson in its lineup when it faces the Indiana Pacers at 3 p.m. on July 5.

I just got a on-line subscription to both the Orlando and Vegas summer leagues for $10.95 on the NBA website.  I'm unsure whether the games will be archived: that would be too good to be true.

Last year the Vegas broadcasts were superb.  NBA GMs and scouts galore were guests in the announcers' booth.  It was the best 10 bucks I ever spent.

The Orlando broadcasts were terrible: two jerk "entertainers" announced the games; it was like the outtakes from an old "Dockers" commercial.  Hopefully this year it'll be better.

I saw that Orlando stuff last year--it was at the junior high AV club level.

Great news! I wasn't looking forward to squinting at the NBA's grainy feed trying to figure out which player was which while being forced to listen to those obnoxious commentators.

Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Would love to see this. Unfortunately the Orlando league is played in a phone booth seating less than a thousand and with fans excluded. Last year's broadcast was only on the internet with a screen size suitable only for Dick Tracey's wrist watch, quality so poor you couldn't make out the numbers even if you had a game program to translate them into players, and announcers that make Dumb and Dumber a huge upgrade. Kind of like having a real chocolate craving and the store only has carob-flavored rice cakes and they are stale.
