VERY ordinary role player with limitations.

Not at all interested unless he can be had for the minimum. No part of the MLE whatsoever.

Any guesses on the over/under on the first "Bring Back Gerald Green" thread?

Thinking it'll happen within the week. I am never going to understand the affection for the players who rode this franchise into the 24-win abyss.

C'mon, coach...you're a better observer of the game than that.

We had quite a few talented players, but they were role players with only PP as a "star."  Of course, Paul is not very good at passing out of double teams, and he was double teamed pretty often before Ray and KG showed up, so we lost a lot of games.  That doesn't mean that some of those role players can't be role players on a very good, or even championship, team.

Do you think Gomes would be an upgrade over Scal and Shelden?  I surely think so.  I wouldn't throw the MLE at him, but if my full MLE targets fell through, I'd give him a portion (half or less).

I don't know, I've always been a fan of Perk and Rondo.

Why would the Blazers release gomes with three years and almost 15 million left on his contract?  That's nuts.  As is typical of the terrible oregonian their poor reporting suggests that the Blazers can somehow get out of the contract if he doesn't show up by Tuesday.  That's ridiculous.  Hoopshype has no option on this contract either.

I guess the blazers can just eat the contract...Paul Allen is certainly rich enough but it seems like bad business to me.

It's only partially guaranteed ($1 million/yr?).

Gomes is an awful defender. No thanks.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Yes.  Hoopshype doesn't always have up-to-date information.  Apparently Gomes contract is only partially guaranteed.  I thought it was $500K.  Important point is that the Blazers can and will cut him and not have adverse salary cap consequences.

Gomes can't rebound, his defense is mediocre and his offensive game is purely complementary.  Not good enough to be a staple in a playoff rotation.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Ryan Gomes plays hard and has fond, albeit unsuccessful, memories of his time in Boston. He would be a very good signing in my opinion and certainly better than the Marquis Daniels signing.

And Theo Ratliff might be a better resigning than Mikki Moore, but that doesn't mean he'd be a good idea.

Each to their own.

Theo Ratliff could somehow be a decent signing. He seems to be having a career extension like Mutumbo that nobody thought was possible. It kind of annoys me we had him for a year and he could never play like 4 seasons ago.

AS I mentioned in another Ryan Gomes thread, I'd rather spend that money on a center and a 2/3 that can shoot.

If Gomes wants the minimum, come on board.

Gomes plays no defense. His offense isn't exceptional. He isn't worth a cent over the minimum to this team, except as filler. As long as Garnett and Pierce, and potentially Allen, are here, we're trying to win, not collect binkys.

See, now that's a much better post than "he was on a 24 win team". (being serious, as I don't watch him play much)
