Let's say he's offered 10 million a year to play along side Wade and Amare in Miami, or Lebron, Bosh and Rose in chicago. In the second scenario he's is sign and traded for Deng, will you be mad?

If they get good value for him, no.  A little sad perhaps.

If they make a stupid deal (like the Knicks when Ewing was leaving), I will be angry.

If they just let him walk, I will be worried.

Don't understand why we'd pay deng that money and not Ray.

I dont care what we pay ray, i just want to keep his contract to two years.

And what if another team offers 3 + years?  At 10+ per?

Deng is younger and a good player.  He is less likely to decline.

  • Rondo = Good
It might be for the best.  It'll be sad to see him go, but if we can get some solid value back in a S+T, my head would tell me it's good for the C's, even if I hate the thought of Ray playing for some other team.

Fact is, though, Ray is super streaky at this point and he's cold more often than he's hot.  If the Celtics want to remain competitive they really need a guy who is more reliable, especially since Pierce can't shoulder the load on his own anymore.

Of course, I'd much prefer for Ray to still be the starter but for there to be a reliable backup (like Posey), but who knows if we'll get that.

I'll be sad, because if Ray simply walks it's most likely over for this group.

Better hope Posey comes with a time machine. I thought Scal outplayed him when they were both in the game this year.

I love Ray Allen. I'm not afraid to say it. I love his silky smooth jump shot. I love his shiny head. I love that his mom looks like Ray with a wig. I love that I can shout "Jesus Shuttlesworth!" at the screen every time he sinks a shot. I love that he never complained, not once, about losing minutes and touches and stats. I love that even as The New Big Three were butting heads with Rondo, Ray is still calling him out for mistakes, and Rondo listens to him every time. Before we traded for Ray, he was arguably my favorite active non-Celtic player (or, at worst, #2 behind Duncan), and while I was thrilled to get KG, getting Allen made me grin ear to ear.

And you know what? I want Danny to make a fair market deal for him. Hell, I wouldn't really complain if Danny overpaid for him a little for the next two years; we're in cap purgatory anyway, so what's the harm? And I honestly believe, even if some might call it naive, that Ray will stay if he gets a reasonable deal. But if the scenario the OP suggests happens? No, I wouldn't be mad at Ray. I'd be disappointed, and I'd miss his presence on the Celtics. But how could I get mad at a guy who gave us everything we asked him to give us and then some, and who simply got a better deal elsewhere? He's not 25 anymore; I can't hate him for looking for what may well be his last big paycheck. And, like I did for another Ray (Bourque) when he left Boston, I'll be rooting for him to do well every time he's not playing Boston.

It depends a lot on the circumstances ... (1) how large the other offer is and whether Danny should have matched it or not (2) how Danny responds to the loss, either by replacing Ray, or, by undergoing a large rebuilding process
