We were discussing food on the Weather thread, and I was  reminded of a favorite lunch when I was a kid....a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato bisque.  To make tomato bisque,  heat up 1 can of stewed tomatoes.  Add 1 tsp. of baking soda, (to prevent curdling) and slowly add an equal measure (use the tomato can to measure) of milk.  Add a pat of butter, pepper ,and salt if needed.  Enjoy.

That's hilarious!  I too, love grilled cheese and tomato "bisque".  The funny part is, I didn't even know that was the recipe for bisque.  I just figured milk would go good with condensed tomato soup (although I also use a little water, and no baking soda).

KG's Knee, it is funny how many  of us have similar "comfort" foods, most relatively inexpensive,  and connected to our childhoods, like mac and cheese, hot dogs and beans, etc.  Whenever I am feeling sorry for myself, I find myself making either a poached egg on toast or corn chowder, lol.

*tomato bisque is made with stewed tomatoes, as opposed to creamed tomato soup.

Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift...

Ok, I see now.  I guess for the non-culinary inclined (like myself),they just seem like the same thing (or maybe mine is just the less sophisticated, poor-mans version :-\).

Oh, and mac and cheese with hot dogs in it, and a side of beans sounds good too! ;D
