Let's say the big 3 all come back. We know Rasheed is gone so what does that mean to us as far as salary space? Does that mean we basically can sign another mid level player or do we have more space for more? Sorry if this is repetitive.

we're still WAY over the cap. We have the Mid Level Exception to offer ($5.8m this year, I think). We can split the MLE 40/60 between 2 guys or give all $5.8m to one guy.

We also can over the Vet's minimum to any number of players.

That's all we have to offer, even with Sheed's salary coming off the books.

Thx, RJ87.That does not get me excited.I know Mike Miller is a popular hopeful here. While he is definitely a very talented player I just don't think it's enough to make the difference. I expect a decline in the big 3. They're warriors but they are only human. Then you have L.A. with Artest,Pau,Bynum if he's healthy(yikes) and kobe. Gross.

yea, we don't have any real flexibility. There was a ray of light with news that Sheed is expiring - I was hoping we could trade his contract to a team looking for cap to get a nice, young piece (like Michael Beasley), but it seems as though Sheed has filed for retirement before we explored trade scenarios.

These huge salaries are killing us...

After next season I'll be ready to blow it up and start fresh. Win or lose.

This lack of flexibility with all these amazing free agents out there is painful.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
We drafted two future hall-of-famers tonight...we're good.

Painful, indeed.
This offseason is like its Christmas and I’m 6 yrs olds and me & all my siblings are down by the Christmas tree getting ready to get our gifts. I’m looking around at all the presents everyone is opening, and they’re all amazing so I rush to open mine and look down in excitement… only to realize its a pair of corrective shoes.

I don't have my hopes up regarding what we can do in free agency... I really just have no expectations. I mean, its nice to dream a little but I'm really not hoping for anything... I've been burned once (I got caught up in all the hoopla surrounding the trade deadline)

Perhaps those corrective shoes will make that you develop into a very athletic teenager. And when you are 19 years-old you are drafted by the Celtics

If we can't trade Wallace for someone (like Beasley), then I don't see any way possible to get back to the finals. If, however, Wallace's contract can be traded, this would be a great young and exciting bench: PG. Avery Bradley, SG. Tony Allen, SF. Michael Beasley, PF. Glen Davis, C. Darko Milicic (MLE signing, if he doesn't go to Europe).

If we could make that our bench, I would feel hopeful heading into the season. It all depends on what we can get for Wallace. If his contract situation ends up hanging us out to dry, we might be doomed for a sixth seed first or second round playoff elimination, unfortunately.

I'd love to see them drop the whole MLE on a very good wing to take the pressure of Ray and Paul.  While KG and Perk had the benefit of two very good big men backing them up and keeping their minutes down, Ray and Paul were frequently breaking the 40 minute mark.  Add a strong wing that Doc feels comfortable playing, and Ray Allen hits his jumpers in the NBA Finals.

At this point I'd love the idea of Mike Miller, Peja Stojakovic, or Tracy McGrady if they get left out in the cold during the LeBron and Co. bonanza.  J.J. Reddick, John Salmons, and Al Harrington also intrigue me.

If they don't pan out, at the very least a partial MLE deal for Rasual Butler, Jarvis Hayes, Quentin Richardson, Matt Barnes, and Kyle Korver would be helpful.

I don't think we need to spend a lot on another big man.  BBD is ready to get the lion's share of the backup minutes at the 4/5.  Even if KG and Perk only play 30 and 28 mpg respectively, I see no reason why BBD can't play 28 mpg himself, meaning we only need to find someone else to play 10 mpg.  I think we could probably a vet to take the minimum to do that.  Some names that intrigue include Nazr Mohammed, Brad Miller, Big Z, Ben Wallace, Rasho Nesterovich, Kurt Thomas, and Theo Ratliff.
