Worth moving up in the 2nd round? No guaranteed contract... a project C for cheap at this point that could have gone 1st round...

If they can get a pick, sure, why not?  I won't be that broken up if they don't though.

Agreed - it's not a big piece, but maybe another shrewd move to reload with young talent. Whiteside could actually be a good player, just tons of risk. But 2nd round mitigates that.

Whiteside is by far the better prospect but Alabi is the more ready to contribute.

Both are worth acquiring a second round pick for.

I would predict Alabi contributing sooner than Whiteside.  Seems mentally ready if not quite in other ways quite yet.

Whiteside. 5.4 blocks a game.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

  • Another undersized Celtic...
Whiteside. Young, long, super athletic, has a good shot for a big man, can rebound and block shots. But he's a stick. But Perk was a massive doughboy when he came on, too. I just don't know anything about his basketball IQ. It seems like our defense is tough to learn--maybe that changes with Tibbs gone?

Personally I would take a chance on Whiteside. See if he gets fired up Gilbert Arenas style over teams not picking him in the 1st.

Worst that happens, he is "just a tool" and we cut him loose.

Alabi... eh. I don't think he has much upside. But again I'd take him as a value pick.
