I was just reading the press conference of former assistant coach Thibideau when he was introduced to press. His philosophy is absolutely great and I bet he will be like Jerry Sloan of Utah, which I find is the best coach in the league.

I was just wondering why Danny Ainge and Doc had not seen this coming earlier. Doc has been talking about for the past years that he wants to spend time with his family and most certainly, this would be the year. My point is, why werent there a prearranged deal between Thibideau and Celtics to take over as head coach after this season so Doc´s decisions would have been made earlier and not so much keeping us waiting. Thibideau would have been THE BOMB so to speak, with all players respecting him and knowing what he was about.
In Danny Ainge I Trust!

My opinion, I don't think Ainge is big on defensive minded head coaches.

Rumors of the front office not looking at Thibodeau as a head coach type candidate have been coming forth for a while. And if this Boston upper management team just does not see Thibs as a head coach what more can be done?

  • Rondo = Good
Because Doc hasn't officially resigned?

yesterday Danny said on WEEI that Thibs certainly would have been considered but since Doc hasn't made his decision yet he hasn't really looked into potential hires for the head coaching position, though he "has some names in the back of his head."

Are you saying force Doc out? Why do that when the Celtics would rather keep Doc.

Very simple situation. The Celtics already had a coach when Thibideau got his offers.

Sorry if Doc is keeping you waiting, but don't you prefer him concentrating on the present during the postseason?

  • You know my methods, Watson.
I predict he will struggle as the head man.  He's a defensive coach, but I'm not sure he's a head coach...

And honestly, I wonder if Thibs would even want to stay.  With Chicago, he's going into a situation with a nice core and money to spend.  If he stuck around here, he might get the gig in two years, but then he'd be part of a rebuilding process that he likely wouldn't make it through because coaches always get fired during rebuilding processes.

I think it's a smart move for Tom.
