How about Sheed playing part of next season?

What do you guys think if the team were to encourage/allow Sheed to play only a part of the season next year so he can save his legs for the post season?  Obviously, he can still be a very valuable piece to the puzzle when he tries.  And even if he retires, his money would not come off the cap (though I suppose the team does get to keep his money).

retiring is a hard step for a lot of people and ends up being gradual.
I think he'll retire now.
But I wouldn't be surprised if he signed a P.J. Brown contract late next season to play P.J. Brown type minutes for us during next year's run.....

If he officially retires, the money comes off the cap.  If he's bought out, the buyout number is the cap number.  If he retires, but wants to come back, the team that held his contract has exclusive rights, I believe.  If bought out, he's a free agent.  So it's a little complicated, but no, I would rather trade him for a decent player than pay him the full ride for a half-season's work next year.
