Doesn't even matter guys, the Heat are gonna get 2-3 max free agents and dominate the NBA for the next 5 years or so.

:)

I can't wait for DWade to have a team with which he can light up LeBron and Kobe and prove what I've been saying for the past two years, he's the best player on the planet.

So do we have the ability to take advantage of any of these cap related deals?
Sheed retiring should give us the ability to.
Sheed has not retired yet ... hence, the Celtics have no expiring contracts outside of Paul Pierce and cannot be involved in any of these salary dumps.

In a few weeks, maybe Sheed officially does it, and at that point the Celtics can get involved in whatever remains. But not now, not on draft day. At this point Sheed has a hugely negative $13 million two year contract.

If Sheed tells whoever we're looking at that he's definitely going to retire then we could trade his contract. After he retires it's too late, isn't it?

Well they might start winning titles in 2013 but with the rag tag group they are going to have playing with them the first couple years, I don't see a Wade, Bosh, Lebron and 12 scrubs team winning right away.

I can see Wade, Bosh, whatever they get from Beasley and some moderately priced role players winning a championship.

I'd be surprised. They'd need too many pieces.

I agree with you here. Look at the #'s he put up against the Celtics and keep in mind that they were with 0 help whatsoever. He looked like it in the Olympics. That's for sure.

I think what's most relevant is whether a Boston team could beat the group you suggest (Wade,Bosh,LBJ and spare parts) in the playoffs. Now, that team might not exist (probably won't exist - too many egos) but a couple of multi-star teams seem likely.

Honestly, I didn't expect Boston to go as far as they did this year. Even if the core stays together, I don't see this team getting near the Finals next year, with a significant upgrade somewhere. So to expect Boston to beat a trio of superstars the caliber of Wade, LeBron and Bosh with a bunch of scrubs is unlikely, IMO. A duo of superstars, yeah, they could beat a couple of superstars with a bunch of scrubs.

But if LeBron lands in Chicago with Noah, Rose, Gibson, Hinrich and another other talent given a Luol Deng trade and another free agent that isn't a max FA, that's the team I see coming out of the East. It would be very similar to the Cleveland teams Lebron has been on only with huge upgrades in talent in the starting lineup. With Tom Thibodeau introducing a Celtic like defensive system, Chicago would be the team to beat.

After the regular season did you expect them to go to the finals? I sure didn't and it happened. I feel like they could do the same next year with the vets getting a lot of regular season rest.

not to be a wet blanket here but didn't they pretty much get a lot of rest this year?  they certainly didn't exert themselves much after Christmas.  even with playing less minutes this year than prior years, they ran out of gas in the last round.

Unless Danny pulls off a miracle in the draft and FA signings (and let's face it, FA signings aren't Danny's strong point), the same old players are going to be putting in major minutes, particularly while Perk recuperates, and will be just as likely to run out of gas next year.  even if Danny restocks the bench with some quality youth to eat minutes, the team needs a coach that will play the youth to get experience for contributing down the stretch and in the playoffs.

Slamtheking that's what I was trying to say. They got a lot of rest this year and it worked out. I expect the same to happen next year.

Doc will realize that he needs to play the young players even more after the success due to rest this year.

are you serious? if by some miracle wade lebron and bosh all played on the same team they wouldn't need help.

you get at least 70 points a game from those 3 players combined, you only need another 25 pts from the entire rest of the team each game and a decent defensive effort and you win.

i don't see how a team with lebron and wade, let alone those two plus bosh, could lose more than 10-12 games in a season (or any post-season series).
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

Future of the C's right now rests with Rondo. BBD, Perk and even Nate are going to help you build a contending team. If Gaffney and Lafayette stick is not that strong a bunch. Need to hope that Free Agency allows some promising talent to drop through the cracks or swing for the fences again and get a major young talent to pair with Rondo and Perk. Don't think PP or KG have enough left in the tank and donot want to go through another season like last year holding your breath and hoping the wheels don't fall off.

Biggest worry it that Boston is no longer a Destination for FA's. This was true last year as well and will be more so if Doc is not back - can't see players flocking to play for McHale.

Hope Danny knows what he is doing.

Sorry but yes, I am serious. Who's the starting center that you are paying a veteran's minimum salary to? What about that starting PG that you are paying a veteran's minimum salary to? What about those 4-5 bench players that are going to be getting minutes that are once again going to be getting veteran minimum salaries?

Excuse me if I see a team of Lebron, Wade and Bosh with the rest of the roster littered with the likes of Fabricio Oberto, Juwan Howard, Theo Ratliff, Sean May, Jason Williams, Bobby Simmons, Chris Quinn, Marcus Williams, Luther Head, Larry Hughes and Raja Bell doesn't strike me as a championship contending team.

I think that team would suffer from a serious case of "there's only one basketball" syndrome. It's the kind of team you hope wins a title quickly before it disintegrates because of egos.
