I always find this enjoyable...Simmons even mentioned the possibility of LeBron signing with the C's.  If  PP opts out, Ray signs elsewhere, and Sheed retires then he says it is possible.  He highly doubts it, but says it is possible.

Not getting my hopes up, but an interesting read.

It's not possible.  LeBron is never going to play for the Celtics.

Simmons' Tidbits:

Quote
I think there's a legitimate chance that Danny could blow this up. Depends on Sheed retiring (please God, please), someone overpaying Ray (no way they'd match) and then PP opting out. If all three of those things happened, suddenly they'd be at $36 million...

Quote
I also think PP has more value to one of the free agent suitors than he does to the Celtics. Danny could care less about loyalty - he'd trade anybody. He offered KG for Amare last February. He offered Ray to every team in basketball. He doesn't care. He only wants to win.

Posted this in another thread but it is more appropriate here:

Here is what Chad Ford and Bill Simmons say about the Celtics pick. If they grab a backup point like Bledsoe I will be [peeved].

Chad Ford, ESPN Insider:
Wow, you're letting me have the Celtics. Bledsoe and James are my first 2 choices for Boston. If both guys are gone, I think Danny trades the pick. If they keep it, I'd take Jordan Crawford

Agree with everything - probably trade it (or trade up), but if it's kept, then Crawford. And if that leads to the end of the Trick Or Treat Tony Era in Boston, then allow me a quick backflip.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Simmons (who forgot Patterson was on the board when the C's picked), says that he thinks the C's would pick him, if only as a trade chip.

Ford just ended with this tease of a rumor:

Chad Ford, ESPN Insider:
Here's a little tidbit for you to end the draft. I've been on the phone the last few minutes. The Wolves have been discussing a deal with the Grizzlies that would send Al Jefferson to Memphis for Zach Randolph. Your thoughts?

If it's true, I think David Kahn is an idiot.

I certainly wouldn't mind Patterson, even if he is another slightly undersized PF.  He's been projected as a lottery pick, and he seems to be very well spoken and intelligent, so if he fell to us I'd be happy.

I am really starting to think Kahn is just elaborately "punking" all of Minnesota.

Depends on Sheed retiring (please God, please)

He's an idiot for saying that. Can't he just admit that he was a little bit off about Sheed in that "cut that check" article? The guy stepped up in the playoffs and played his heart out in game 7.

You're not hoping Sheed retires?

I have addded the Sheed retire request to my nightly prayers --  ;D
