Talking about Erden. Says he is progressing and could definitely fight for a spot on the team next year and maybe get minutes.

I hope Danny has the green light on trading Rasheed.

Why would anyone want Sheed, who is retiring?

"The team overachieved"

"Phoenix has not approached him"

"Doc has not made a decision"

"Doc not heavily involved in the draft process"

"Sheed has indicated to everyone that this was his last season. I think this was his last season."

"I do have doubts that Pierce will take the player option."

"Rebounding was a problem during the season, but not during the playoffs. It was just magnified because of game 7"

"Tony Allen proved his worth. Nate Robinson won two games for us"

"We're talking about moving up, we're talking about moving down. It's all going to depend on who's there at  #19"

NEEDS:

"With Sheed retiring and Perk injured we need to address that (big man spot). We may have to trade for a center."

"Shooting"

Instant cap relief. My concern is our owners are looking for some relief and payroll reduction themselves.

  • Rondo = Good
Only really interesting thing was that Rasheed is definitely retiring.

Otherwise, nothing particularly enlightening.  Although, it definitely seems that Danny wants to keep the team more or less together and just reload as much as possible.  He admits that doing that is not necessarily going to be possible.

My theory:

They've known this was Sheed's last year since the begining.

Also, with regards to the draft, he said:

The top 10 guys could contribute right away. And then there is a glut of nice upside guys that might not be ready to contribute right away. And then finally late there appear to be some Gomes/Powe players  with low up side that can play sooner.

Center is a very high priority in free agency or via trade.

Sounded like the C's may not match the market for Ray--or, possibly, for Pierce either.  Could be a very interesting couple of months.

Yup. But Sheed would have to make his retirement official before we can utilize it probably.

Its nice to hear how strongly he felt about the Celtics chances next year if they can more or less bring back the same team -> with some added shooting and a center.

Its gonna be a very interesting July.

I have no doubt in my mind that Pierce will be a Celtic for the rest of his career.
Now Ray... he's gone IMO. And I think that's the correct call ultimately, hopefully we can explore sign and trades.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
As far as the draft is concerned sounds like Danny will be going for immediate contributors and pass on the projects.

I'm more concerned about Pierce now than ever.

1 - The Clippers have a glaring need at the 3 spot:

C - Kaman
PF - Griffin
SF - Max contract
SG - Gordan
PG - Davis

Bench - $4 to $6 million in cap space (after handing out a Max) and this year's Lottery pick.

2 - LAC has a ton of cap space and could offer 3 years/ $20 million a year to lure him.

3 - It's his hometown.

4 - He's good buddies with Davis.

I don't think Pierce's ego would mesh well with going to the Clippers - especially since it would be in his home town. The Laker fans (including Pierce's friends and family) look waaaaayyyy down on the Clippers.
