The 44th pick is quickly traveling around the league.

The Milwaukee Bucks will reportedly send the New Jersey Nets the second round pick they acquired today along with Corey Maggette for the third year shooting guard, Chris Douglas Roberts.

The Nets now hold the 3, 27, 31 and 44 picks in Thursday's draft.

Nice wheeling and dealing by the bucks.

Commentary from CDR himself: "Fear the deer."

It's looking more likely than ever that the Bucks will move Michael Redd and the $18 million owed him in the final year of his deal - should Redd pick up his player option as expected.

That's a huge contract, and Redd's coming back from a serious knee injury. Wonder what the market for him will be like.

I suppose the other possibility is the Bucks intend to limit Redd's minutes in an effort to get him safely through the regular season (and to minimize Skiles' cold sweats - pairing Redd and Maggette on the defensive perimeter could take years off his life.)

Update: According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Bucks won't give the Nets the 44th (or 47th) pick in the trade for Douglas-Roberts. The teams are now negotiating for a future draft consideration.

New Jersey scrambling for even more cap-space? Sour on CDR? (He does have rather loose lips.)

IMO, this is a great trade... would have loved to add a guy like CDR for a mid-2nd round pick.

Is NJ gearing up to make a run at Bosh?

The Bucks GM continues to acquit himself well through these under-the-radar trades.  Building a solid team on a budget...impressive.

Meh...  not sure how acquiring Corey Maggette's albatross of a contract fits in there.  Given the size of their market, I have a feeling they're going to be seriously regretting that trade in twelve months' time.

Jennings
CDR
Maggette
Mbah a Moute
Bogut
---
Ilyasova
Ridnour
etc

Solid team, under the luxury tax.

Don't underrate Maggette.  He was one of the most efficient SFs in the league last season and gets to the line better than anybody else in the league (yes, anybody).

The only knocks against Maggette are that he can't really shoot and he hasn't played much defense in his career.  However, I trust Scotty Skiles to get Maggs and CDR playing scrappy defense (like every other player he coaches).

The Bucks front office is showing how to "go get it" after a pretty decent playoff showing last year.

They are actually "adding" to their team. Who would have thought that?

The Bucks were missing a legit scorer type. Maggette fits that mold more than Salmons does.

I like John Salmons as a peripheral type player, not a building block.

Jennings/Bogut/Maggette is more of a legit core.

Agreed. I love this move, and Maggette is a beast to the basket. They're going to be a fun team to watch.

well done by Milwaukee, they are going to be a tough team to beat next season. Heck, they would have been tough to knock out in the playoffs this season if Bogut was healthy.
