I don't agree with the assessment. Lee was a 20/12 guy. He was one of the best rebounders in the league on one of the worst rebounding teams in the league. He has great range--he doesn't just squat in the paint--he takes 18 footers and still rebounds! You don't think that would have been a tough match up for Pau Gasol? or Andrew Bynum? He's the kind a guy we DO want--he rebounds, he's longer than Baby, he can shoot, he can score in the paint, is a high fg% shooter and most importantly, an EXCELLENT FT shooter at 82%.

The "only good on a bad team" tag line is complete BS, with all due respect.

Again, I said he is a very good player that is about to get overpayed.

Say what you like, he is the only big man on the knicks.  The only rebounder on the knicks.

He is a 6'9 big man.

He will not be worth the over 10 million a year he is looking to get.
given nba salaries Lee is probably worth 10 million a year at the stage of career he is at.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I have no doubt that is how much he gets and that what alot of players at his level get.

But I think unless your a team that will go way over the cap or have a great player on a rookie contracts, signing guys that are not game changers (and Lee is not, he is a good player) to such large numbers, dooms your team to the no mans land in the NBA.  Not good enough to contend, not bad enough to win the lotto.  Just hoovering between just missing the playoffs and being a 6th seed.

He’s a more athletic Glen Davis who has been playing without a leash.

David Lee:
PER - 22.28
Value Added - 526.4
Estimated Wins Added - 17.5
Rebounds Per 48 minutes - 15.1
Points Per 48 Minutes - 26.058

Glen Davis:
PER - less than 13.8
VA - Less than 38
EWA - Less than 1.3
Rebounds Per 48 minutes - 10.8
Points Per 48 Minutes - 17.45

There's really no comparison whatsoever between the two.  David Lee is a far, far superior player.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.
