I don't agree with the assessment. Lee was a 20/12 guy. He was one of the best rebounders in the league on one of the worst rebounding teams in the league. He has great range--he doesn't just squat in the paint--he takes 18 footers and still rebounds! You don't think that would have been a tough match up for Pau Gasol? or Andrew Bynum? He's the kind a guy we DO want--he rebounds, he's longer than Baby, he can shoot, he can score in the paint, is a high fg% shooter and most importantly, an EXCELLENT FT shooter at 82%.
The "only good on a bad team" tag line is complete BS, with all due respect.
Again, I said he is a very good player that is about to get overpayed.
Say what you like, he is the only big man on the knicks. The only rebounder on the knicks.
He is a 6'9 big man.
He will not be worth the over 10 million a year he is looking to get.
He’s a more athletic Glen Davis who has been playing without a leash.
David Lee:
PER - 22.28
Value Added - 526.4
Estimated Wins Added - 17.5
Rebounds Per 48 minutes - 15.1
Points Per 48 Minutes - 26.058
Glen Davis:
PER - less than 13.8
VA - Less than 38
EWA - Less than 1.3
Rebounds Per 48 minutes - 10.8
Points Per 48 Minutes - 17.45
There's really no comparison whatsoever between the two. David Lee is a far, far superior player.
