Looks like a pretty solid team, besides Scal being assistant coach. Brian Scalabrine is no Bill Russell, by any stretch of the imagination. Scalabrine didn't even play in the Finals of the only NBA Championship that he has won with this team, though he did play for th NJ Nets during the two seasons in a row where they managed to reach the Finals.

That means his all-time record in NBA Finals that he has actually played in is 0 of 3, lol.

I'd watch our starters make another run, but my realistic-dream bench looks like this:

Nate (resigned, 3 million)
Foye  ($3 million per, S&T Daniels, TA, or Scal plus cash and a future pick)
Outlaw  (MLE)
Warrick or James Singleton  (minimum or minor S&T)
BBD  (currently $3 mil)

That's a pretty high-powered bench for $16 million.

I disagree I think AI would be a great spark off the bench. Just me though. I agree. I would like to see our starters make another run. BUT if for some reason Ray doesn't return I say a serious run needs to be made for Joe Johnson. Otherwise I trust Ainge will bring in quality vets & puppies for the bench. For me, what makes my skin crawl is this concept of bringing Al Jefferson back. This is something me and other members of this site (& other Celtic sites) that's always put me at odds with my fellow celtic fans. I don't understand why many of you were so high on Green & Jefferson. Jefferson is too injury prone. he's this generations Pervis Ellison (people forget he was the Number 1 pick back in the day was early in his career was a definite asset to washington. Looked like the future. Injuries happen then BAM).

Al Iverson needs to retire - sorry.....

Is Shaq a FA? Is so I would see if he is interested in playing for an LLE? The Diesel and the Pick-up Truck (Glen Davis) playing together would be quite a hoot. Diesel has always had respect for Paul Pierce and might think beating down Kobe and helping the Celtics win an NBA Championship would be a storybook end to his career. He did play in the last game ever in the Old Boston Garden (Gawd I feel old for saying that).
The beatings will continue until morale improves

I agree with the Shaq pickup. I'd like to see him in there. Even though the Ben Gay & Walker jokes wouldn't cease, I'd love to bring in shaq & Powe for the frontcourt. Still like AI though  :) I say get him & rafer alston we should be set.

Iverson and Shaq are almost "ex-players". My dream is if we can sign Lebron James...

Uhhh... defensively Davis is nowhere near what Perkins has been, and as a result our defensive scheme would be very much mitigated.  Part of the reason we've been successful is that we can filter people to a shot blocker, as well as defend the pick and roll.  That starting lineup, with an aging roster, would not be nearly as good as we've already seen :(

Filtering the offensive man to someone in position to taking a charge is just as useful as filtering someone to the shot blocker.

That would be the lineup for the start of the season, when Perk was out. Perk would be back come playoff time. If we really need a shot blocker Whiteside averaged 5.4 in college last year.
