http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/67333/20100621/wolves_offering_pacers_flynn_two_picks_for_10th_pick/

According to Adrian Wojo, Minnesota is offering Jonny Flynn and the 16th and 23rd picks to Indiana for pick #10, and unspecified additional considerations.

Thoughts? Is there much difference between who will be there at #10 and who will be there at #16?

[EDIT: Edited the thread title to reflect the new information.]

They probably want to draft Luke Babbit. They need wing help and outside shooting . That's an awful lot to give up for it though, they should have just drafted curry instead of flynn last year.

The rumour sounds like nonsense.

Indiana who are shopping their draft pick turn down an offer of a young point guard + two first round picks? I don't believe it.

And, Minnesota want so badly to move up from #16 to #10 that they offer a second first rounder + Jonny Flynn? I don't believe that either.

That makes no sense.  It sounds like something was lost in translation.  My guess is they are offering those two picks OR Flynn.

Edit: reread the article.  It is not Flynn and the two picks for #10, it is Flynn and the picks for a PACKAGE that includes #10.  My guess is it would include either Rush or Hibbert.

Hibbert would make a lot of sense in that deal because then they can deal Al Jeff.

Yeah, the word "package" is a new addition.

I didn't have time to check the math on that offer of picks and Flynn for the #10. Indiana does not possess a large enough trade exception to absorb Flynn's contract outright, so there had to be more to the rumor than what was initially reported.

Yeah, I read "package" at RealGM and thought that that was code word for Danny Granger. With Minnesota under the cap they could absorb incoming salary. Otherwise something in there makes very little sense.

This is interesting: someone else is reporting that it was Minnesota who turned down Indiana's offer of #10 for Flynn.

So perhaps Wojo has gotten wind of Minnesota's counteroffer, which was rejected by Indiana.

That sounds like a reasonable trade -- #10 for Flynn -- I believe that report.

Good trade for Minnesota. They won't do it ... they have too much confidence in Flynn but they should. The player they can get at #10 is a superior prospect than Flynn is.

While I agree that Minnesota could get a better player than Flynn at number 10, trading him is just robbing Peter to save Paul unless they have some sort of commitment from Rubio that he will definitely be willing to become a Timberwolf at some point.

Drafting 4 first rounders is great but they will not draft a PG better than Flynn and that means putting the team in the hands of Ramon Sessions. No I happen to like Sessions but more as an off the bench combo type guard or scoring PG. I would want him being responsible for running my team's offense or being responsible for getting my scorers the ball where they need it and when they need it. Flynn may not be that type of PG either but he's better at it than Sessions, IMHO.
