Philly has said they'll want to move Iguodala if they draft Turner. (http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/67331/20100621/executive_says_76ers_have_to_trade_iguodala_if_they_draft_turner/)

I said this last year and I'll say it again this year. Iguodala would be great on our roster. Playing as Rondo's running mate would bring out the best in both gifted players. This past season he was signed to a really good 5-year/66M deal (back-loaded, getting 12M next season), he's only 26, and would be the injection of athleticism our team needs.

He's also a very good rebounder for his position.

If Danny could pull off a sign-and-trade of Ray (and parts) for Iguodala, I'd be incredibly excited about this team. Since Evan Turner can't shoot, I could maybe see Philly wanting a player like Ray (they are one of the worst jumpshooting teams in the league, as is).

To usher in a point from another thread, I'm also a huge Mike Miller fan. Don't just look at his shooting. His playmaking abilities for his position are above-average. He is also a significantly better rebounder than Ray. We think that's important, don't we? His defense is mediocre but with Perk/KG backing him up, some of those deficiencies would be masked. If Danny can get him for MLE cash, it'd be a big mistake not to sign him.

PG: Rondo/Nate(?)/TA(?)
SG: Iguodala/M. Miller/TA(?)
SF: Pierce/M. Miller
PF: Garnett/Davis
C: Perk/Sheed(?/Erden(?)/Draft pick

I can get behind that lineup. Pipe dreams? Probably.

The 76ers are looking to dump Brand with any AI taker. Allen and Wallace for Brand and AI? Not sure I'd do that or if Ray would agree to it. Who knows though, money talks.

At his price tag, I think Iguodala is a bad match with Rondo. Rondo needs wings who can shoot. Otherwise the defense will collapse in the paint and the C's will struggle to score.

I love Igoudala, but I think for the money Iggy makes, the Celtics need to find a young player that they can go to for buckets in crunch time.

I like Iggy, but what good does Ray Allen do for a rebuilding Philly squad?  I know they need some more shooting, but Ray Allen will be retired before Philly is relevant again.  They really need a big man, anyway, since they traded Dalembert.

I'm not sure if Iguodala is the right fit for this team, but the guy has shown he can score in crunch time.  He's had several game winners in his career including one in the playoffs last year

Igoudala is what we all wish Tony Allen would be. He's very strong, very athletic, a solid rebounder and can get to the rim. He'd be a very solid, reliable #2 option, and would give the C's the best defensive back court in the league (if we moved him to the 2). He can play the 2 or the 3, can defend either position, and is a good passer. His numbers are better than Ray's, he's younger, and he would electrify this team on the break. 12 mil is pricey, but to pay 2mil more than what most people would expect to give Ray Allen? C'mon it's a no brainer. The question is, what do we have to offer Philly? Would they even trade with another team in their own division? I just wouldn't want to do it if we had to take on Elton Brand.

I live in Philly and I see more Sixers games than Celtics games. I want no part of Igoudala as a Celtic. First, he's not a 2, he's a 3. I know the Sixers played AI at the 2, but he was out of position. Plus, he's not a max player. Not at all. He's also not that good of a crunch time scorer.

He can run the break well and he's good at defending other teams 3s, so in that way he's good, but you'd be paying him max money to be a 6th man. If you play him at the 2, you are just going to get p---ed at his offense, which is only ok away from the basket. It's a terrible contract for a guy that would be the 3rd option on a championship level team.

Snooge, I respect your opinion and evaluation, but don't you think Iguodala was asked to do more than he was capable to do alone? He IS the first option isn't he? He can play the two, but can't when you've got AI and Louis Williams in the backcourt. I'd love to see what he could do with a top tier point guard and a guy like Pierce next to him, and even the fading presence of KG, who may not degrade much more next year as he fully heals from his surgery. More than likely though, we'll never know...

I'd like to echo what birdwatcher said.  I respect your opinion, snooge.  I too have watched a lot of Philly games over the past 3 years (fantasy basketball-related reasons).

Iggy strikes me as the type of guy who underperforms when given the full reins over a team.  He is clearly not a franchise player, not a #1 option.  But, he is the type of guy who would flourish as the #2 or #3 option, when he doesn't have to bear the full burden of the team night in and night out.

Also, want to point out that it's no coincidence he had his best shooting years playing alongside another star (first two years, alongside Iverson) and another pure point guard (2008, alongside Andre Miller).  Rondo would bring the best out of him.

False. But he's unnecessary for this team.
