Celebrities honor Celtics with Globe ad
Posted by Matt Pepin, Boston.com Staff June 21, 2010 07:46 AM

A group of the Celtics' most famous fans, ranging from actors and comedians to other Boston-area pro athletes, has honored the team with a full-page advertisement in the Globe this morning.

"You are our 2010 World Champions" reads the ad, which was signed by television personality Maria Menounos, comedian Dane Cook, actor Eliza Dushku and musician/actor Donnie Wahlberg. Patriots Wes Welker and Vince Wilfork and Wilfork's wife, Bianca, also signed the ad, as did several others from the entertainment industry: -- Chris Evans, Michael and Michelle Chiklis, Chris Ivery, Ellen Pompeo, Keven Undergaro and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

Wahlberg, Menounos and Cook were particularly visible at most of the NBA Finals games, becoming the face of the Celtics' fan base both in Boston and Los Angeles.

The 2010 Boston Celtics are my champions too!

I honestly think that losing in 7 the way they did ended up doing more to energize the Celtics fan base in Boston than actually winning the whole thing would have done.  I have a feeling that Celtics tickets are about to become the hottest commodities that they've been around here since the Bird era.

These guys really connected with people because of the guts and effort they displayed and I think they've got a lot of new fans today...and a bunch of old ones who are more in to this team than they've been in a long, long time.

Don't think I've ever seen someone who wasn't a sponsor take out an ad quite like this.  Cool stuff.

TP for sharing. I like it. That's so cool and sweet to honor what they did. I'm sure it represents what the majority of non-celebrity fans feel. The work they put in and the joy they gave us in this postseason really shouldn't be forgotten. I hope it makes the guys feel a little better and energizes them even more to make another strong run together.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Dane Cook, really?  What is he trying to promote?

I really wish McLovin signed it John Hancock style at the bottom as...McLovin.
