This kid should be a lottery pick. He has the tools and the skillset. His size is acceptable at the 2, and he's quick enough to play PG on defense. He has good form on his shot and a lot of range, and he has a good enough handle to get to the rim whenever he wants, along with the strength and body control to finish through contact.
There's just something missing so far. He has tunnel vision, to start with - he can handle well enough to play the point, but he won't make his teammates better as a ball distributor. He's a better fit as a 2. While he can get to the rim at will, he doesn't. Instead of finishing and drawing fouls like he can, he'll just put up contested jumpers. In a lot of ways, he reminds me uncomfortably of Pruitt - a player with all of the tools to be successful but is too passive on the court to put it all together.
In general, I wouldn't be unhappy if we drafted him - he needs to be more assertive on the court, and he needs to learn when to pass the ball instead of hoisting low-percentage shots. He'll also need to make a full defensive commitment if he's to make it on this team. If everything falls into place for him though, he can be a very good player - an above average starter, perhaps even an All-Star in a particularly good year. But thus far, that's looked like a big 'if.'
