This loss will hurt for a long time. Even if we reeled off 5 straight championships from next season, it'd still hurt. It's just one of those things where we worked hard to get so close but made costly mistakes and got the short end of the stick with luck and the officials. Hard to get over.

Sadly life isn't fair. But I believe everything happens for a reason so I try take solace in that and in the effort of our team and in the promising future of our young 'uns.

still hurts man still hurts... we got robbed of a chance at a win... no getting over that

robbed, I think not, we made it to the finals and lost...these things happen. There's no leaguewide conspiracy.  There may be some poor officiating, but that is not the sole reason the c's lost (and its not even the tipping point)

I dont understand this.... It is undeniable that the Lakers recieved extra help from the refs. and we already went over the fact that when the fakers had the biggest advantage in rebs we had our largest lead. we shot 42% and they shot 32% but still won??? The MAIN issue here is the FT's... +20 for the game and 21-6 in the 4th quarter of a game 7 in the finals is completely ridiculous. The fact that Stern allowed this to happen throughout the series is the reason why this sport has lost ALL of its credibility... and i hate to say this but until he either dies or retires this is going to continue to happen...
everyone got so sensitive after 9-11... thanks alot bin laden

I don't get the leagues "financial incentive" to make the Lakers win the series. Maybe to get it to a game 7, but I'm not even on that side of the conspiracy theory.  If the league were fixed wouldn't you think the Cavs and the Lakers would be in the finals with Lebron winning his 1st title? Kobe is already a ginormous superstar, giving him another title doesn't make him any more marketable.  Lebron on the other hand needs it to solidify him as one of the best ever (which at this point he isn't)

I really don't believe in the conspiracy theories.  I do believe in bad reffing, but reffing isn't what gave the lakers this title.

Did the refs give the Lakers 13 more rebounds in the game?  15 more offensive boards?  No it was hussle, size and the lack of Perkins.  If the Celtics win game 7, I bet every LA fan thinks the refs jobbed them too, but the truth is the team that played better on that day won the game, and won 4 out of 7 games to win the title.

read this article - explains our creepy feelings about that 4th qtr. better than we can ...........

it does still hurt.

i have layed low all weekend - just stayed off the phone with people who want to talk about the series, run my errands and watched "the wire" to keep my mind off what happened.

but there is still this dull throbbing pain because of the circumstances and then the way this whole thing went down. you just had the feeling these guys had given all they had to get to the finals and then gave some more to win games 4 & 5, didn't have much to give for 6 especially when Perk went down. then they come out to make their last stand in game 7, to win another banner, which this group wanted and needed, and the way the game was going, it just looked like another classic episode of the Boston Celtics finding a way to win in a way that thru history, that no other franchise has been able to do.

and then the 4th quarter - after we had led the whole way and were somewhat in control of the game - then to have the game, the title and banner #18 just ripped out of our hands in a way that we didn't even really get to play for it.

someone on here talked about this one feeling worse, almost like the pain of a breakup, or a death. just something about that 4th quarter will stay with me.

my most painful Celtic playoff losses are easy to name ..... 1973 ECF to knicks when havlicek tore his shoulder, 1985 & 1987 Finals losses to the lakers, and now this 2010 Finals vs Lakers. right now, this one is the worst.

I agree.

I have no memory of 73, but the memories of 85 and 87 still remain.

This one will hurt for a while, for sure..especially when there were so many questions about the officiating.

I'm still proud of what we accomplished, but still..the Lakers....I'd rather lose to Barney the Dinsosaur rather than these clowns.

nba is fixed. they let them play all out for 3 quarters and then started calling the 4th tight...against boston. 19 FTs in one quarter? the deciding quarter of the NBA finals? what a joke

Good Point..and that is why, looking back, I think Boston tightened up, some...because they knew what was going to happen.

Thanks Joey Crawford.

If you remember, most of the Lakers offensive rebounds came in the first half, and the Celtics still had a 13 point lead in the 3rd quarter.  That's not why we lost.  We took a lead into the 4th of Game 7 and what happened next?  21 FTs for the Lakers.  That was the game.

i cried hardly that day and my folks thought i had gone mad :(

they would never understand why a girl could care so much about a  foreign basketball team

lots of chinese fans felt as bad as i did. and we also had to stand the teasing and mean words from the lakers fans. :-[

I had a very vivid dream last night that the Celtics had an entirely different 4th quarter than the one they had in real life. They won the championship and it felt so real I woke up excited as if it were reality and for a couple of minutes believed it.

Then i was kicked in the stomach all over again.

Ever have real vivid feel good dreams?

Let me just say that you are an awesome fan, and everything that embodies the term "Celtic Pride" ... I sincerely hope you'll be a regular member here! I'm sorry you had to go through any kind of ridicule for being a true fan, but all I can say is we all have to put up with it once-in-a-while, but it's something we do with pride and joy, because our beloved Celtics are worth it! God bless and welcome once again!

Please don't let that discourage you from posting ... we have people here who have very little knowledge of the NBA, those who are "experts", and every level in-between, and they are treated with the same kind of  respect and encouragement. And what better place to learn than a blog ... where there are so many people willing to answer questions and share their knowledge of the sport. And trust me, your English is fine, and there are many here who struggle with it much more than you.

Please feel free to PM me anytime with questions or just to say Hi ... I certainly don't know everything, but I love to share in my love of the game, and just exchange experiences. We have many other female members as well, so don't let that keep you away, either. Everyone here is acceoted on the same level, and those differences that make us all unique, are never an issue for discussion. So nice to make your acquaintance!

Look, it was only four points, if only Ray Allen (or the others), shot the ball well it could have been different and we could have won it. If only if Ray driven the ball to get to the free throw maybe we could have earned more than 4 points.

Bottom line is that we didn't shoot the ball well in that quarter (Ray).

Yes it does hurt, but think of it this way.  Celtics fans have only felt this way 4 times.  While Lakers fans have felt this way 9 times.
