Question: Paul Pierce Opt Out/Bird Rights

Hey,

If Sheed retires Pierce's opt out clearly becomes more relevant.  My question is - if Pierce opts out, do we still retain his bird rights?  IE if Sheed retires and Pierce opts out can we then use the ~16 mil in cap space first and then re-sign Paul after?

Nope. He still would have a cap hold. We'd have to relinquish his rights and then we could only re-sign for the vet minimum.
