Hats off to Rasheed last night. He played like a warrior. I do hope that he decides to retire.

Had Rasheed played hard all season, had Rasheed been in good physical condition, then he probably would not have had the leg cramps, and muscle spasms that he suffered through during the playoffs.

Rasheed is his own biggest enemy. His lack of commitment to being in shape for the regular season, his lack of commitment to playing hard cost him the ultimate prize tonight.

Some describe luck as when preparation meets opportunity.

Rasheed's lack of preparation cost him the opportunity to win a Championship ring last night. He was unstoppable on the block, but couldn't stay on the floor due in large to his lack of preparation and conditioning.

Several people have mentioned Sheed retiring, can I please get a link to this?

It's all speculation now.  It was Doc Rivers who brought it up in the post game.  I do agree though, if he had gotten in shape before the season began, maybe he wouldn't have had issues with cramps and what not.  He's just lazy, he could have been one of the best 4 men of all time with the skillset he has.  He just chose not to.  I almost hope he doesn't retire though.  I don't think we can get another player that can be semi productive.  We only have the MLE to use and I'd rather not get stuck using it on a big again.  Do you guys think teams may look at him as an expiring contract now?  Maybe we can trade him before he retires to get a piece in return, then let him retire for the other team.
do it

If he played like that during the regular season, we win 7 more games and have home court advantage......

Sheed the type of player where you love his heart, but typically hate the way he plays the game.  He three jacking mentality drives me crazy to no end.

If Sheed does retire I think DA and Riley could come to terms on a Beasley for Sheed trade. I believe Sheed's retirement would take his salary off of Miami's books and free up more cap space for them to go after a third max free-agent.

If KG could become the guy's mentor Beasley might be able to tap into some of that potential. According to some articles Miami is shopping the guy pretty hard.

Here is some analysis on his future in Miami:

http://www.prosportsdaily.com/forums/showthread.php?t=489414

Also it seems DA inquired about him this year:

http://news.bostonherald.com/sports/basketball/celtics/view.bg?articleid=1233952&format=text

Beasley would be a nicer fit with Rondo than with Wade. He could do more isolation for Boston and someday maybe even be the featured number one option. In Miami he was always doing pick and roll with Wade and his talents weren't always utilized.

Beasley has a long way to go to live up to his number two overall status but trading him for a guy who is about to retire and the fact he is on his rookie deal seems like a no brainer to me.

I mean wasn't he offered to New Jersey for Keyon Dooling and Miami was turned down because New Jersey wants their cap space too?

http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/37482808/ns/sports-player_news/

Now the key is that if Miami acquired Sheed and he retired would his contract come off the books? That's the big question...

Anyone know details on this?

I answered my own question here:

"Guard Ray Allen(notes) may have played his last game with the Celtics. The veteran sharp-shooter will be an unrestricted free agent this summer. One high-ranking Celtics official told Yahoo! Sports they were uncertain if they could afford to keep Allen, but certainly want to. The Miami Heat could be a strong suitor for Allen, but the 34-year-old has said he’d prefer to stay with the Celtics. If Rasheed Wallace(notes) retires, his $6.3 million salary would be wiped off the team payroll next season and aid hopes of re-signing Allen.

Rivers indicated that Wallace, who signed a three-year $18.9 million contract with a player option in the third season, could be at the end of the line."
-- Yahoo

So basically Sheed is an expiring contract that immediately expires when he chooses to retire. Teams will be interested in that assuming he makes up his mind soon.

It's pretty unbelievable that New Jersey wouldn't take Beasley for basically nothing.  Beasley needs a motor more than he needs a mentor.

Sheed for Beasley would be a great trade for us. I think he was being played out of position at the 4 in Miami. If we moved him to the 3 here I bet he could be good.

He certainly could run the floor and finish on some Rondo passes.

I think it's no risk and high reward. This guy is two years removed from putting up Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant numbers in college. I say if the option to do this is there then take a chance on him maturing a little bit and playing better with the Celtic organization. The ability is there. The kid is barely 21.

Beasley is not a high character guy and could be trouble. I would just not prefer to go there. I don't like his game or his off the court baggage.

Sure, no one is perfect, but this kid has too much baggage for me. I would rather get Travis Outlaw and or Mike Miller, and develop a nice young player like Damien James from the Draft. Beasley is not worth a second round pick right now.

I understand where you are coming from but Outlaw and Miller re both UFA. The only way they comer is in S+T. Possible yes but to come at a contract that would be tradeable for sheeds would be one these guys last resort. Plus these players have topped out and it's time to look towards the future. Beasley is a kid who made mistakes bt his upside is huge. Maybe he is not the best option but he really isn't a bad one with that versatility and that rookie contract. Like I said he is low risk potentially extremely high reward. Miller and Outlaw are low risk but also average reward. DA is a gmbler and I like that. It paid off with KG and Ray. Giving up a guy who is gone anyway for the #2 pick two years ago works for me. Remember Beasley is very very young. He would be a senior in college next season if he stayed in school.

I've been a "Beasley in Boston" supporter for some time.  If Sheed retires, we have a legit chance at landing him. I think being around KG and Paul will help him tenfold. In all honesty, getting out of Miami Beach will also help his focus.

More importantly, Beas can be a go to scorer. Him and Rondo on the fastbreak could be a beautiful thing to watch.

Boy, it almost sounded like you were going to praise the guy with that first sentence. How about this…

Sheed, thank you for being smart enough to realize that your old body just couldn't take 82 games plus an entire playoffs worth of giving everything you had. Thank you for getting yourself in good shape prior to the playoffs so you could come in and perform at a high level like you did. This gave us a chance and the length and size to be able to get where we did. It gave us a chance in game 7 when Perk went down. It wasn't YOU that let us down big fella. I for one hope you come back next year and if it takes coasting during the regular season to be able to step up during the playoffs then so be it. Whatever you do, thanks for the heart and effort in the playoffs.
