So yeah, I moved to Australia.

Hah, had you going there didn't I? You thought I was talking about the Celtics losing? Well I have to admit, I'm heartbroken and so is my girlfriend, the girl whom I traveled here for. We were watching the past few games in one of Sydney's (that's where I'm living at right now) many sports pubs.

So I though I'd let you guys know how things were going down undah, mainly so you'd have something else to think about for a bit. Well, things are pretty good. Other than finding a job, I've got everything I want here; a place to live, a woman to love and pretty much everything I want within 5 minutes walking distance.

Our tiny single room apartment is in the center of this really awesome city. There's just a really awesome load of everything here, and most importantly; there's a basketball court just a few minutes from here. If you run, you can be there in about 2 minutes, 5 otherwise (I don't run very fast, haven't played the game in a while! :D)

The city itself is huge, and there's lots of things to see here. The weather is so-so, because I came here right before the winter set off. So-so means you do wise taking your jacket with you for when it gets dark, and some days are a bit rainy. I'm told this is the worst (read: wettest) it's been in years, but since I'm from Holland, it doesn't really look all that bad :)

I'm still looking for a spot to play pickup games, and competition basketball. Can't wait to get a job either. Both of these things mainly to get to know some people, and have something to do!

Getting internet was a lotta hassle, the internet plans here are weird, and you've got these download limits, after which your speed goes down terribly fast. Weird. We found an unlimited plan though, adsl2+ and we're right next to the box that dispenses it in our neighborhood, so all is well now!

Well, since I got the net back, I'll be back on the job as a Celtics blog moderator, and avid poster from now on.

Bring on the off-season!

Well, glad to have some news, and good news actually.

Glad to hear that everything is fine at your side of the world, and envisiong Australia's beautiful landscapes for some seconds in my mind just brightened my thoughts on this after-loss morning.

Cool to hear that you will be posting more also, "welcome back" I guess, although you didn't left! ;)

PS : I like your "upside down" profile pic and quote, well done. ;D

Welcome to Aus!

Glad you're settled in - Sydney is definitely one of the best cities in Australia.
Funny you mention the net plans - we always awe at your unlimited plans. We don't know what they're like and chances are we never will haha.
Just last out the weather... only gets better from here. Sydney can get coooold though (for Aus that is...).

GL finding a job and getting used to the country.

This place is a lot colder than I (or anyone) expected. I just happened to arrive in the coldest winter ever measured in Sydney. Just my luck ;)

Last weekend, we've been to Canberra (pronounced "Can-brah", and I'll tell you this much; that's one weird darn city. On the Australian 5 dollar bill you can see the "map" of the middle of Canberra, with the parliament house and its surroundings. I've been told the city was built after being entirely preplanned.

Unfortunately, Holland failed in the finals of the World Cup, so I didn't get to go out and celebrate a win with my fellow Dutchies here. Bah, feels just like when Boston lost. No wait, I cared more back when we lost. A lot, actually :)

Aaanyway, still looking for a job, even though right now I'm doing some sketches for an add-on to a computer game, which is rather cool :D
