With all this talk of retirement

My understanding is even if sheed and/or kg did retire, their salaries still would not come off of th cap. As Is tht correct?

Yes that is correct, however their contracts are still tradeable if a team wants to take them on as they are coming off the books in their respective years.

Thats interesting because a team could trade for a retired players salary without actually having to pay the money (I think).

Feel like most teams/players would not have a problem going this route...

The player is placed on the league's Voluntarily Retired list, forgoes his remaining salary, and cannot return to the league for one year.
