Heart broken

I am just absolutely heart broken right now. I hurt for Perk having to sit out this game and knowing that if he was in there we would have won it. Now he's got a tough summer of rehab in front of him and may not even make it back to start next season.  Next year is a contract year and after all he has given this team, I hope they take care of him. 

 I hurt for this team that played so hard and came so close. They have a lot of heart.  I hate that after letting them play for 3 quarters the refs suddenly started to call it tight in the 4th, giving the Fakers more free throws in the 4th than the Celtics took all game. 

 I hurt because I put so much into this team and I hate the Fakers so much.  I know that next year is going to be so different and not in a good way.  I love this team.  I love the Celtics. And right now I am just inconsolable.

A big thank you to my fellow Celticsbloggers for your kind words all season on the game threads.  They are much appreciated.  I only wish we could be celebrating banner 18 right now. 

I will be taking some time away from doing links.  I just don't have it in me to post links about the Fakers winning.  I just can't.

You just have to look at it in terms of how much the Celtics gave you despite everything they had to overcome.

Two months ago, if you told me the Celtics would make it to the Finals - let alone take their opponent to 7 games - I would've told you to check into a mental institute.

We can't rightly be disappointed after all that the Celtics accomplished.  So, they couldn't quite manage to beat a team with an MVP candidate and the best big man in the game?  Without an MVP candidate or truly dominant player of their own?  Big deal.  That they came close is crazy; indeed, a fantastic accomplishment.

It hurts because they lost to the Lakers.  But the Lakers were the most talented team in the league this year.  It wasn't even close.

You're really going to count the ancient history titles that happened in another city?  If OKC doesn't claim the Sonics' one title as their own, then the Lakers shouldn't claim five ancient history titles from Minneapolis.

yessssir, they got their 11th title, 15th in Lakers history. the 1948-1949 was a BAA title, not an NBA title. But don't worry, just wait till next year.

TP for all, I really feel heartbroken, it's 7AM here and it's going to be a very hard day, I won't check any Spanish press today because news will be "Pau has won another ring and he's going to be a HOF".

The Lakers got talent, but they're not a team, it took them a lot of help from the refs, and injuries to Perk and Sheed AND Ray (since game 3) to slow the best team in the league, the Boston Celtics.

Just wait till next year, [dang] Lakers. With our MLE addition and some draft magic from Danny Ainge, we'll be embarrasing you again like it's 2008

Should the Celtics not count championships that were won under different ownerships?  The Thunder were eager to give a new face to the franchise and make Oklahoma City a new start, the Lakers kept the name, color scheme etc...Apples and oranges.  So yeh, I count them.

I felt bad about Perk, the team (watching the postgame interviews from everybody was simply painful, especially TA who couldn't hold his tears back... I gained a lot of respect for him in these playoffs and even more after that interview) already but now I feel bad for you too. I understand the feeling, I share it actually, although the pride of seeing the team go so far makes it more acceptable. But losing so close to the goal also hurts in a big way.

Thanks for all the work you've done this year and the previous years FL. If somebody deserves to take a break and not think about basketball or this team for a while, it's you and no one else.

You guys don't know how hard its been as a die hard Celtic fan out here in LA. I always loved Pierce, KG and Ray and to see them come together two years ago to win a title was a dream come true. I've never liked Kobe (huge Jordan fan) and this loss really rattled me. As the 4th quarter started to go the Lakers way I knew it was over. I was truly at a loss for words last night. I didn't want to see all this celebration around me from friends, but I did and it killed my spirits. The aching feeling in the pit of my stomach is unbearable right now, I can't rest or do anything, I just wanted this title for the BIG 4 so badly! The look on KG's face in the 3rd was "lets just get to the finish line" but we never made it. This is a depressing days fellow C's fans...I am broken down and beat up right now...

I know exactly how you feel! Having to listen to LA fans screaming and  honking all night just absolutely crushed me. I need to get out of LA for a little while

My heart breaks more for the guys than for myself. Seeing their emotions last night was so painful. It hurts to get so close but more so because I'm sure they know they made mistakes earlier that ended up being costly. And poor Perk. I can't even imagine how he feels. But I'm glad they didn't let him risk any more damage by trying to play.

That really was the worst possible way to exit the playoffs. At this stage. To this team. And in this way. Losing a series is painful enough, there is no way refs should have make any questionable decisions that could taint the result and rub salt in the wound of the losing team.

It's painful but the only thing that can be done is to learn from this and move on. For me, I'm just going to spend the offseason figuring out how to focus on the Celtics and block out the rest of the NBA. I can't deal with the officiating, the league's superstar and image driven agenda and the media's idiocy anymore. I just want to enjoy next season's Celtics.
