i know this hasn't happened, but given the fact that the only thing that has stopped this celtics team from ending the 2010 finals in boston earlier this week (and sweeping the magic) was rebounds on the offensive and defensive glass, in addition to consistent points from the starting center,

we all know its a luxury to have a center that can score and provide defense ... roy hibbert has proven to be a match up nightmare for dwight "elbow" howard because he can score outside of the paint, not to mention his length would fare pretty well against the injury prone bynum and soft gasol ...
which are our only 2 major concerns as far as the postseason goes, we're all A's across the board except for this

as Pat Riley said no rebounds no rings

roy hibbert is not injury prone & is 2 years younger than perkins,
there's no doubt that perkins has shoulder issues and this knee issue now will set him back till the start of the season

why waste a pick on this years draft class when we know what Roy can provide? he's a poor man's Tyson Chandler+Greg Oden but he's not injury prone ... it's like choosing a camry over a benz

given our ties to Larry Bird, is there any way we can get Roy Hibbert?

i like many celtics appreciate the service perkins has given us but after we win our 2nd ring he could understand why this might & must be done(like leon powe)...we've seen what sheed has given us this season and post season, in addition to garnett.. a lot of the points in the paint which have hurt us has come off of late rotations, second chance points off of offensive rebounds and garnetts/perkins inability to block shots one on one.. hibbert is a taller mobile perkins that can score the ball if need be ... he makes way less than perkins (who would've thought ::) )

am i the only one alone with this idea?

Just so you know, I think you're supposed to put the words "Trade Idea" or something like that in the title of the thread or else people might think it actually happened.

LOL,  that would be pretty funny if the Celts traded Perk tonight.  ;D

Would he get a ring still?
Yup

Uh, I'd second that.  I nearly had a heart attack that we'd even consider this trade.  Hibbert's done nothing to prove he can play in the NBA, while Perk is a top 2-3 defensive center.
