i'm going to seriously consider converting to atheism. I know how ridiculous and obscure that sounds but i just don't know if i can have faith in a god who rewards scum like kobe bryant.

Everytime i see Kobe, i get the worst feeling in the pit of my stomach. Everytime he's shown licking his lips after a 3 or a jump shot i just get physically ill. The guy is evil and i don't know if i can bare to see him celebrating at the expense of my team.

It's just a terrible feeling. Anyone else feel even remotely like this, or is it just me?

I guess it's just another reason why we NEED to BEAT LA!

Kobe bryant is a great player. I hate the lakers like poison, but this guy has tremedous respect for the game and his craft. We can overcome kobe. I know the strategy has been to let kobe get his and stop everyone else, but that may have to change tonight. Personally, i want to see if his teammates can handle the pressure or wilt under it.

It may just be me but i tend to root against rapists. If Kobe wins, he and roethlisberger have seven combined championships.....ugh...

Keep the faith. Perkins' injury doesn't necessarily have to be a negative, especially on the offensive end. If Sheed and Baby can grab some boards and we follow the blueprint, we'll be fine.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Kobe is a great winner, and an awful loser. I do believe he's the best player in the NBA currently however. I hate the thought of playing a team with him on it. But the bottom line is that 'if' our guys show up, and their guys show up, we win. It's been that way all season. The Lakers cannot beat us, but we can lose.

I'd like to see all our guys click for this game. It would be about time.

If the Lakers win the people of Los Angeles are going to burn their city down.

So don't convert to atheism God has a way of turning evil in to good.

I feel the same way. Kobe's attitude, his alleged rape (and the way that case unfolded), and the media's need to market him as something he's not all combine to make me very ill indeed whenever I see him play.

Well, since you threw this out there, I'm going to respond. The answer might be a bit different if you subscribe to a different faith tradition. But if you look at the Western world broadly and consider the notion of God, I think one has to realize that part of God's plan is to grant all people agency, or in other words, freedom of choice. This freedom of choice trumps preventing bad things from happening to good people and good things from happening to bad people.

I couldn't possibly judge whether or not Kobe is actually a "good" or "bad" person, but the very notion that you might lose your faith in God because a good thing happens to a "bad" person is misguided. Besides, even if God did intervene in situations like this, how would He be fair? Kobe is not the center of the universe. There are a dozen guys or so on each team - maybe the collective "goodness" of the Lakers exceeds that of the Celtics or vice versa. As you can see, the moment you start down that path, the logic gets pretty ridiculous.

I know there's a risk in being perceived as arrogant when making factual assertions about faith and religion, but I'll make one anyway. I know that God doesn't work the way you're suggesting.

Keep the faith, bro. Basketball is just a game.

If the Lakers win, I will die a little inside. It's not something I would be able to repress. Every time here will be a Lakers match, this series would float out of my subconscious. So here's hoping taht basketball gods won't let that happen.

Yeah, he just doesn't have any respect for human beings, especially those young females who work in hotels in Denver.

Become an Atheist because it makes sense, not if your favorite basketball team loses.

Never mind God allowing countless atrocities and heartache throughout history.  If God loves the Lakers it's time to rethink things.  ;)

Kobe is a great player and I know where you are coming from with your thoughts. I wouldnt go as far as that though but we must win tonight.  Being a C´s fan I should be confident before the game but I said it all along that if Lakers win game 6 then they will win the championship, and I still believe they will. I am going to sit in my Boston jersey and watch the game but definitely will quit if the Lakers are running away with the game. I cant stand seeing them celebrate.
In Danny Ainge I Trust!

I'll die a bit too, but then be re-born to follow the Red Sox.  ;)

So, it won't be the end of the world (for me).  I will acknowledge LA as the better team (they play the game to determine these things), but it doesn't mean I have to like it.
