X-Factors:

Rondo - He's got to have a good night and attack the paint consistently ... when Rage plays his best, we're near impossible to beat.

Sheed - He has always claimed that the playoffs are when he takes it to another level, well tonight will be his greatest, (and most likely last), chance to prove it ... and we need him to, now more than ever.

Defense - That's all we need to concentrate on ... if we play the intense, stifling, overwhelming defense that we execute better than anyone, then everything else will fall into place, and we'll fastbreak them into obivion.

Officiating - Forget them! Joey and his pals will make bad calls, they always do ... so what?!? If we play our best ball the way I know we can, no amount of biased or horrendous calls will save the Lakers.

Bench - With Perk out, the boyz on the bench are more important than ever ... we need them to contribute and give their best whenever they're called upon. Our bench is deeper and more talented ... time for them to prove it!

Physicality - Play like warriors ... I don't care if we foul out every player on the team, we've got to attack this like it's 1984, and send the message that we're not going to be pushed around, and that whatever the outcome, this is old-school, baby!

Stars Will Shine - It's now or never ... we have three superstars on this team who have immortal reputations and the salaries to match ... it's time for ALL of them to earn it and show the world why they are regarded as part of that elite group. No excuses ... this is it, and I want to see 110% from EVERY member of this team ... especially the ones that set the examples.

We've Earned This! - More than any other team, we have earned this chance. We were the long-shot from the very beginning of these playoffs, and yet time and again beat the odds and stunned the world. We dug down deep and found the reasons to carry on, and I expect nothing less in this do-or-die finale.

Just Play! - Don't over-think this thing ... just go out and give your all ... play as the intense, unselfish, in-the-groove, cohesive unit we know you can ... share the ball, feel the energy, be as one, let the green blood flow, and get this done!

Yeah ... you're right. I guess I was lumping it into defense overall, but we can't give them the second-and-third chances we have been. Gotta win the boards! (TP)

Yes, Yes, Yes!   My mantra:  Attack, Defend, Rebound!

Play for yourself, your team, and the fans!  If you play for the refs you will lose.  Forget the refs exist (they "should" be invisible anyway, if they were doing their job correctly) and just flat out play!   If the effort is there (rebounding, going after loose balls, etc.)...and I know it will be...the appreciation and love will be here!

I am afraid I am going to sound like a broken record until the 18th Banner is won by the Celts TONIGHT!

We CAN!  Now go DO!!!!  GO CELTS!!!!   UBUNTU!!!!
Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift...

in the offensive end just focus to make those open shots and stop missing layups and on the defense stop Odom and Gasol. Artest will not make those shots again :)

Mental Toughness

We have shown to be the most mentally tough teamin the NBA over the last 3 years. It can be argued that we put ourselves in tough spots (playing 2 games less than the max in the playoffs in 08), but we come through because of our will, determination, and experience.

I don't think we'll see much different from Rondo or Sheed.

I do think there are 2 players on each team that could greatly affect the outcome outside the usual suspects (ie. Kobe, Gasol, Ray ALlen, Pierce, KG).

Big Baby and Nate Robinson for the Celtics.

Lamar Odom and Ron Artest for the Lakers.

Yeah, great points ... and the four you mentioned are players who are hot-and-cold, but when hot, can easily turn a game around, or be the deciding spark/catalyst. I think of all the "X" factors, the bench's will be the most important. (I think Rondo will still have a big performance, though ... and Sheed has got to be above his average).

(By the way, that's a picture of Xavier McDaniel in the OP ... I had hoped someone would notice ... the "X" Man himself!) ;)

Agreed. We need to have a body on each of their rebounders at all times when the ball is in the air.

Artest's offense early in Game 6 was rather deflating.  We'd come to rely on bricks from him.

I feel Tony Allen's defense on Kobe is a key part to us winning. So far when he's on the court,Kobe has only shot 29%from the field.TA might be the player who holds Kobe from going off late if the game is tight. Its key Kobe doesn't dictate how the game is going to be played.Ray/Tony's defense will affect whether Kobe has to work hard for his pts.

Since we're being honest, Big Baby from Game 4 showing up tonight scares the hell out of me.  There's really no Laker defensive answer for BBD on a rampage due to his odd combination of fatness+quickness...almost like a mini-Shaq.

We better rebound.

If we out rebound them, we win.
