So tonight is why we've put up with Sheed all year.

That's right. All year we've been told that Rasheed will be there come playoff time. We've been told to put up with watching him not rebound, play half hearted defense, and chuck up 3's at a horrible percentage because he was saving it all for the playoffs. Well here it is. Game 7 of the finals and no Perkens. It's now or never. So here's the deal Sheed, play the one game I've been promised all year and I'll forget about the whole useless regular season that I had to watch you play at half speed while you "saved it".
I think I'm being very generious here. One good game and I wipe out a whole wasted season. What about it?

This is certainly true in my mind at least.  One big, memorable game from Sheed stepping into the starting line up for Perk and he not only validates his signing, he could go down in Celtics lore.

All else from the season is forgiven/forgotten.

The good news here is that Sheed couldn't care less about what the fans think of him. At the same time, he seems to care deeply about his teammates and I think he'll be really motivated to step up big for them not for anyone else. Obviously, I don't care WHAT motivates him, I just care that he's motivated and actually comes through.

As I said in another thread, this game reminds me that Sheed played in the epic WCF game 7 with the Blazers and against the Lakers. He completely carried the team in that game (scored 30 pts.) though, as I recall, he couldn't finish it off at the end. Fortunately, we've got Pierce and Allen and KG that are capable of finishing things off if Sheed can just help them get there. I believe he will.

And then, this whole Sheed signing will have been worth it.

I think you're very harsh on Sheed.

He has already done a tremendous job during these playoffs which justified his signing and made up for his disastrous regular season. He was huge in our key victories throughout the last 3 rounds and the Finals so it's not fair to judge his signing on tonight's sole game.

Of course if Sheed goes 0/11 from the floor with 1 rebound and 6 fouls, I'm going to be mad and disappointed but I expect him to play well in this big game and to show - once again - he was worth the signing.

However you must not expect too much out of him - he was brought here to play good backup minutes at the center/PF position and come up huge in key/clutch situations in the playoffs. So far, he's done that. With that said, I don't think Danny & cie signed him expecting him to play 30 excellent minutes and to start in the biggest game of the season. I think Sheed is simply physically unable to play more than 25 minutes and still be effective anymore, especially with his bad back in this series.

Perhaps I'm being harsh on Sheed. Personally I think anyone who glides through 82 games deserves some harsh treatment, but as I said i'm offering amnesty if he comes up big tonight. While you are correct that he has played better in the playoff I don't think he has made up for a disastous season just yet. For me he needs to reach deep down and come up with one BIG game. I'm talking about posting up instead of parking himself outside the three point line. I'm talking about putting a body on Gasol or whomever instead of getting beat to most rebounds and loose balls. I'm talking about playing that tough, hard nosed D. One game. That's all I ask. One super game.

I don't think it was Sheed's fault that they lost at all. But despite the refs and everything else going on, I recall that Sheed had a couple of chances down the stretch that could have lifted the Blazers over the hump and he wasn't able to convert. But yeah, it definitely wasn't his fault - he was the reason that it was close at the end.

In short, if Sheed gives it everything he has tonight, win or lose, I can sort of live with output from the regular season.  Anything less than all out effort--which includes intelligent play, he needs to go.  plain and simple.

I love Sheed. Any center that can shoot the 3 pointer and hit a jumper from anywhere on the court like he can is special in my eyes.

This is one man that I know that I'll never have to question his hustle, his passion, and his willingness to win come playoff time.

I think people forget that Sheed already has a ring. And he got it defeating none other than the LA Lakers 4-1. He knows what to do and when to do it. He's been here before. If he stays out of foul trouble, he will come up big for us. If I'm being honest, I actually like him better than Perk in this situation because of his offensive abilities.

it comes to a head tonight, in terms of the reason why we got him.  however, he has stepped up in the postseason and redeemed himself in my eyes from the poor, lazy play of the regular season.  lets hope he steps up tonight.

I have always liked Sheed, (big secret fan when he was in Detroit) and have nothing but good thoughts about his game tonight.

There is a reason our big 3 went to Sheed's house last year to talk him into joining the club.

I'm predicting a stat line for Sheed tonight of something along these lines:

38 Minutes, 25 Points, 13 Rebounds, 4-5 from 3, 4-7 on 2's and 4-5 on the Freebies. Throw in a solid 2 blocks, 2 steals and 2 assists for good measure.
