Doc Rivers has contributed so much to this team and organization over the past 5 years. He struggled along with PP through a rebuilding phase, never pointing the finger elsewhere and taking blame even through an 18 game losing streak in 2007 ( Something Rick - "The negativity in this town sucks" Pitino couldn't do).
People overlook the job that Doc did in 2008 saying that anyone could win a championship with 3 future HOF's in the prime or close to the prime of their career, but they forget he had a 22 year old starting PG and a 23 year old starting center. Doc pushed all the right buttons and meshed 3 stars with a young core of role players, not as easy as it sounds.
Then in 2008-09 after the KG injury, Doc never let the C's use it as an excuse. They finished the regular season very strong earning the # 2 seed in the east. He helped develop BBD into a clutch playoff preformer and helped take the eventual eastern conference champs to a 7th game even though he had a big man rotation of Perk,BBD,Scal and Miki Moore
2010 was supposed to be a great years for the C's with some Peoplepredicting 70+ wins. Injuries and resting players never really allowed the C's to get into a good rythm after their 23-5 start ( or whatever it was). By the time the playoffs rolled around the C's were hearing that they wouldn't even get out of the first round. Doc has once again pushed all the right buttons. He said Nate would win a playoff game and he did ( 2 actually). He has been great with his rotations, getting the starters the rest they need and trusting the bench is game 4 of the finals when not many other coaches would have. He has helped bring this so called "old, slow, underdog" of a team to within 1 win of maybe the most satisfying C's playoff run ever.
Oh yea he has also helped develop an up and coming star PG
So I say win ths one for Doc and send him off the right way , as a NBA champion once again!
