  • Let's Go Celtics!
With Perk now officially out (http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=38957.msg784784;topicseen#new), it's safe to assume that BBD or Sheed will start game 7 tomorrow night. Ultimately, I think Sheed will get the starting nod.

However, Sheed has been hampered by his own injury this post season. With back issues, he's played limited - yet productive - minutes so far in the playoffs.

Maybe its the optimist in me, but I really think Sheed will give everything he's got tomorrow. He'll gut through the back pain and do some great things on both ends of the floor. I've been his critic all season, but I believe tomorrow will be Sheed's definitive moment as a Celtic and he will rise to the occasion.

We can win this guys, BEAT LA!

As I just said in another post, if Sheed is on his game, big minutes from Sheed could be a big plus for us.  I love Perk's defense; however, with him and Rondo on the court at the same time, it can make it easy to double the Big Three.

Also, at least he doesn't have to worry about the single tech situation.

Hell yeah!  TP

He's been a very effective Pau-stopper in his limited minutes and I think he's got one more big time game in the tank for all the glory.

Bottom line, if Sheed plays well tomorrow - he'll FOREVER be a Celtic legend.

In the epic game 7 of the 2000 WCF Finals between Portland and LA (which Portland should have won, but lost) Sheed scored 30 points on 50% shooting (2/2 on threes). His team didn't win but it wasn't because of Sheed - he stepped up big time.

Obviously, he's older now and won't carry the scoring load, but he's still a gamer and he'll play big tomorrow night!

He has been doing nicely with his back issues, it'll be a maker or breaker.  If he plays great and we win than the signing was worth it.   His year overall has been pretty forgettable.   I'd rather have davis start, he seems to rise to the occasion and give fits to most teams on the offensive glass.

I think we need to start Davis, simply because they cannot afford to not have one of KG and Sheed on the floor at all times, because of the length of the Lakers.  However, I expect a huge game from Sheed, where he plays big minutes, and is on the floor down the stretch.  But Davis should start.

Davis hurts us defensively. He can't defend Gasol - and we can't let Gasol get established early. And KG defending Bynum (even on one leg) makes me nervous.

I think Sheed will come up big for us, he plays great physical D on Pau and he doesn't let him get position on the block. And he truly doesn't give a F about anybody's feelings. Thursday can't come quick enough.

Start Sheed...can't agree more. If Gasol gets a rhythm....it's over. Crossing my fingers that Doc coaches his ass off tomorrow.

I think Rasheed will deliver IF the refs don't take him out the game early with fouls, which is a real possibility seeing as though that's been the case for just about every game thus far. There are way too many instances where Rasheed gets a clean strip or clean block (and i'm talking ALL BALL) but the refs blow the whistle anyway. If they don't let Rasheed play tomorrow, i'm gonna be sick.

Is it outlandish to think that Sheed can justify his signing by playing a big role in the next game?  If he plays well he was worth all the play we had to endure from him this season, good and bad.

Knowing Doc he'll start Baby and have Sheed coming off the bench, but I hope he doesnt. We need Sheeds length to counter there bigs and for if they go on a run. We cant have him come in after were already down or they gain momentum. I love Baby but he's just to small they can alley oop right over him & a strong start will be huge.

Sheed needs to play big minutes, and that means he has to tone down his defense.  Just his presence in the post is enough to bother Gasol.  There's no need for him to go for strips or blocks, because even though half of them are clean you know the refs are going to call the foul anyway (which leads to possible implosion / technicals).

If Sheed can stay in the game, this Perkins injury will be a blessing in disguise.  He's consistently one of the top +/- on the team despite playing with mostly bench players (recall he was in during that epic game #4 run).  He rebounds and defends as well as anyone and his offense can't be ignored, as it can for Perkins.

It's all on the line now. Sheed is up for this. I like the KG Sheed combo in the starting line up because of the length issues we've had.

Last night LA had Gasol, Bynum and Odom in at the same time and we had KG, Baby and Paul  .. . giving up about 11 inches combined. We can't compete like that.

Sheed and KG need to stay out of trouble, pull out some old school drive to the lanes, dish to each other and clean the glass.

PLUS, Sheed CAN MAKE FOULS SHOTS!!! In the unlikely event we get some foul shots, Sheed can and will make them. Scala over Sheldon for sure.  .. .and we have a more than suitable line up of depth to take game 7.
