Well [dang]

Quote
Celtics center Kendrick Perkins walked into Staples Center on crutches this afternoon, sporting a heavy brace on his right knee. Celtics coach Doc Rivers said definitively that Perkins will not play in tomorrow's Game 7.

"He's not going to go, I can tell you that now," said Rivers. "It's a multiple ligament sprain. We're not going to do an MRI until we get back. Once they did the tests that they did on him and they realized he couldn't play well, there was no reason to send him to an MRI, too. That will come, and then we'll make a determination on what we have to do."

And he's still focused

"I don't want anybody to feel sorry for me," Perkins said. "It's an important game, it's not about me. It's about winning the title."

About what I expected. Perk is a true warrior but you could tell the way he left that this was a serious injury. Only one game left and this team still has a chance. While Perk’s physical presence will be missed, the spirit can provide even more motivation for the Celts to get it done.

Professionnal till the end... [dang], I feel so bad for him, he must be so depressed. At least the silver lining is that he didn't injure himself earlier and that he helped us a lot to get to this point... it would be so nice to win the title, for the team, but also especially for Perk.

Get well soon big fella, and recover well!

yep - and Bynum & Bryant caused the injury .............. time for ML Carr to get in Scal's ear before game 7.

I agree that the combination of bynum and kobe caused the injury.  But it was hardly intentional or dirty.  Let's just stick to playing basketball and try to win the game.  There is still a great opportunity in front of this team.

I hate when people say the Big 4 and completely leave out our man Perkins.

Perk, thank you for all you've done so far, for a great season, for this awesome championship run.  I know you'll give us many more quality games in the future.

Now is the time to come together, and win it, Celtics style.

This stinks, but at least the team knows.

Get well, Perk.  You're still a beast.

On a positive note, LA will actually have a harder time planning for what Doc might do lineup wise.  We need to play our hearts out and throw the kitchen sink at them.
