I am up for playing Scal, he is a sound defender and while he doesnt win games for us he never loses a game for us either.
Scal has had many costly bad plays in tense moments over his time here, such as lazy perimeter passes that got picked off or fouling on an inbounds play before the ball was passed. You are being too generous.

The plus with Scal is he won't get lost in these intense games like Williams does and that they will D him some on the perimeter. The minus is that he is a poor rebounder and hasn't played in ages.

I forgot to mention, both will dress if Perk can't go.

Doc will probably stick with Shelden but if anyone gets in foul trouble we may see Scal.
I'd rather see Scal over Williams.
but i also believe we are focusing too much on this
it won't be important.

For those who think both players stink and should not play...what is the option if any of the bigs get in foul trouble?  I agree that I would prefer neither, however, the Cs will probably need one of them on the floor if KG, Sheed, or Baby picks up their 4th or 5th foul before the 4th quarter.

  • You know my methods, Watson.

I'd be tempted to pull a Coach Norman Dale, and just play with 4... :)

  • You say when......
Scal.....our secret weapon...what an idea, wiat till game 7 to spring the scal-ster on 'em..WOW.....Those three's from the corner, yea...hello Mr Rim.....Andthen, andthen....it will be like 5 on 4 on offense.....the Lakers will be so befuddled, Scals muscle on D...pushing them around like he always did...it was so smart of doc playing scal all those games in the second half of the season instead of sheldon...why get a rebounder-in-shape, huslte gut like sheldon in the flow with the team....when will we ever need HIM....we have....perk or SCAL...! And like you guys said, why didn't sheldon look soooo hot when he was put out there for the first time in 3 months, it was only a game 6...in LA, like that is a big deal.....why keep a guy in the flow, why play him in previous playoff games, why worry if an injury happens..it is stuipid to even have a backup plan or bench guys....! Nothing ever goes wrong...why even have a 401K or savings or stocks..you have social security...and the Gov will always take care of you...!

As others have already indicated, Scal and Williams are both going to dress.  I like Scal as the 4th big though, too.  Aside from bodying up better, he also has better range and probably is the better perimeter defender on someone like Odom.
