Lebron probably told him he wasn't going to re-sign.
"If somebody would have told you when he was playing with the Knicks that Nate Robinson was going to change a big time game and he was going to do it mostly because of his defense, somebody would have got slapped."  Mark Jackson

So what now for the Cavs? (would love to see a poll of what people think the Cavs will do coaching wise from this point forward)
"Leadership is diving for a loose ball, getting the crowd involved, getting other players involved. It`s being able to take it as well as dish it out. That`s the only way you`re going to get respect from the players"

- Larry Bird

It's the right move. He can continue at MSU and maybe someday be considered one the best coaches of his era and one of the better ones all-time in college basketball or he could have come to Cleveland and possibly been fired within two years and then have to start all over somewhere else.

I respect guys like Izzo, Dean Smith, Mike Krzyzewski, Bobby Knight and Roy Williams. They know the college game. They are great at it and they know they are better off staying in it.

Good move Tom Izzo.

When the story broke (but before MSU confirmed), they immediately spoke with Dick Vitale, who said basically the same notion--that Izzo's legacy would be at risk in much the same way Pitino's was by going to the Celts.  Somehow I have a hard time shedding a tear for Pitino's legacy because of his time with the Celtics.

glad hes staying. he's an institution at MSU. The college game needs him more than the pro's.

Lebron probably told him he wasn't going to re-sign.

Maybe he should have pulled a Pitino: "Sure, I'll coach your team, but only if LeBron stays..."

Smart move by Izzo.

The guy has been turning into a coaching legend in the college game.  Its good to see him remain that way.  The guy has done wonders at Michigan State and one of the very best at his craft.

Just when I thought Big 10 basketball stood a chance of being fun to watch again.
