Reports out of L.A. today are that Bynum had his knee drained again and will start on Sunday.

Very hard to say what he'll give them. This really is the biggest X factor in the series. If he can't go at all or he's a liability, then not only do the KG-Odom and Perk-Gasol matchups improve our previous situations, Baby will be matched up against guys like Powell and Mbenga, neither of whom can abuse him on the defensive end like Odom can.

Bynum seriously scares me more than Gasol or Kobe ... we just match up very poorly with Bynum, and he's been killing us when he's healthy. I truly hope his knee is bothering him on Sunday and can't give them many minutes.

What they are failing to realize, though - is that we beat them With Bynum in Game 2 - yes it took a Gy-normous effort from Ray, but we also had KG hemmed up by the refs in that game.

I want Bynum to play. Play, Big Fella!

The other thing with Bynum that's being overlooked is not that he hasn't further torn his knee. It's the fact that when you have an injury like that, you compensate with other parts of your body, risking injury to them.

There is no doubt in my mind this kid is hard as nails. He's playing through swelling, pain and on a knee that's had problems in the past. And he's outplaying Perk by a wide margin anyway.

But I'm worried about his future. I'd hate to see him go down with a long term injury.

I just hope the celtics have an attitude that they don't care who they play. They go out and attack regardless. If it turns out Bynum can't go or continue then for all we know Josh Powell comes in and scores 18 or Dj Mbenga gets 13 rebounds and 4 blocks. Crazy stuff happens. While we are speculating about this, I hope the Celtics are not.

Good Point...seeing Bynum play like this gives me a lot of respect for him.

What is baffling to me is Kobe - when he says stuff like "The only player I listen to is Fisher", it makes me wonder about his relationship with the other players.

Kobe must respect Bynum after seeing what he is doing, I hope?

With the time off and getting his knee drained again I expect him to play much better on Sunday but think the quick turnaround and the flight will probably hurt him in Game 6. Really I don't get the scheduling at all - 2 days off with no travel and then just a day off when they have to fly across the country.

I just find it a bit risky that someone with his knee injury history would continue playing on but LA has a lot of money invested in him so they must know there's no possibility of long-term damage.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Kobe Bryant is a jerk. ever watch him in the press conference - he acts like "you people ought to consider yourselves fortunate that i deemed you worthy enough to answer your stupid questions - but my answers will be short and rude and as soon as i can, i'm leaving because all of this is beneath me."

wait a sec - is that Bryant or Phil Jackson i was watching ?

With or without AB, I think deep down LA knows they can't beat this Celtic team.  With AB, they at least have a punchers chance.

Yeah - it's sad. I don't remember Jordan having that personality.

  • Thank you Eddie!
Bynum's career is a lot like Bill Walton's.  Unfortunately for him, he is just destined to blow out his legs at the end of the season.  Like with Walton, I think we're going to have a lot of "What if Bynum didn't get hurt so much?" questions at the end of his career.

Except Walton developed into an MVP caliber player, was amazing then got hurt. Bynum is a project who will never reach potential, and even if he did wouldn’t be in the MVP race.

  • Rondo = Good
Baby will be matched up against guys like Powell and Mbenga

Neither of those guys has played a single minute yet in the series and I don't expect them to, barring a blowout.

I don't think Davis scores 18 in Game 4 if Bynum were playing.  Davis would have had half his shots blocked.  Not sure how'd we win that game.  Not sure Nate scores on those little floaters either.
