I love how both of these guys have been playing in the playoffs, but I think that both will demand around 4-5 mil this off-season. I know Ray is going to be taking a pay cut, but Rondo's new contract kicks in too. Also don't forget that Perk, PP and BBD will all be free agents after next year as well.

I am going to go with Nate because I love the instant offense and energy off the bench. He is a perfect compliment to Rondo as a backup because he brings a different look for opposing defenses without losing any speed or quickness at the PG spot.

I love the way TA has played D this postseason, but I think his skill set is easier to replace than Nate (who also has played great D) and can create so much more on offense.

Use #19 on a wing in the draft or sign someone similar to TA (Roger Mason type) to the vet min

So what do you guys think?

I am expecting Tony Allen to command $2.5 to $3.5 million per annum and Nate Robinson around $3 to $4 million.

I don't think it's either or ... there is a fair chance both are re-signed this summer.

If I could only choose one? I don't know, it depends on what the Celtics do with their MLE + draft pick. This is more of a secondary decision in my eyes that is dependent on the other moves.

I like having a back up pg. So if I had to choose only 1, it would be Nate. But I hope Danny can resign both.

Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

If we're planning on playing the Lakers in next year's finals, we're going to need Tony.
At this point both seem like a good idea,
but this is the rare case where the PG is easier to replace than the specialist defender....

I'd like to re-sign both.

TA gives me a heart attack every time he touches the ball. I think we can find someone else to fill his place, and I dont think many people will throw much money at him. He has no shot at all, he cringes when he goes to the line.

Nate is a great backup point guard, and could easily be a 6th man of the year with the spark he provides off the bench. I think he's really focused and proud to be a Celtic and will try hard next year.

I'm loving Nate right now.  He's so crazy that he never seems nervous or tight in big moments.  Great trade to get him and I want him back.  He has personally greatly benefitted by being in this winning atmosphere, so I hope he comes back for a reasonable salary.
I want Tony back too, but Nate is the man right now.  And the thing about Nate is that he still has upside.  He's still improving right now.  If he wants to remain a back up for the C's, bring him back.  If he thinks he's an allstar somewhere else, forget it.

I am sure that the Celtics will attempt to resign both.

The reasoning was explained by Roy Hobbs in another thread: if any of those two players are gone, we lose the salary slot. That is, we can resign Nate and Allen at their current salary + 20%, but if they go, we have to replace them with prorated minimum players.

That's assuming that the Celtics will use their MLE on another player. It's just going to be good management.

Both.  Use the MLE on a SF that can take pressure off of Pierce during the season and really provide him a lot of rest.

Rondo/Nate
Allen/Allen
Pierce/F.A.
KG/Davis
Perk/Sheed

I like that 10 man rotation.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I think we need to bring in another big, Sheed's been a ton better this post season but I don't want to count on him next year.

Re-sign everyone,  they've all showed up this post season, the chemistry is there, and we have a good draft pick, I like our chances of compeating for the title next year as well

At this point, I could see them bringing them both back provided Nate's not getting a contract increase.  TA's contract will be a relative bargain and he's played well this year to earn it.

If both are resigned, and I'm assuming Ray is also, C's have their 9 man rotation in place for another season which will give them another year to gel with Sheed and Nate.  Free up Finley, Scal and Shelden's spots for an MLE 4/5 swing player (Travis Outlaw would be my choice) that can immediately contribute and a 5th big that's not a stiff (good luck with that).  spots 12-15 can be used for developing young players that won't be required to produce immediately but can learn and contribute next year or, if we're lucky and they do so, contribute this year.

I hope neither will be back but probably both will be re-signed and at numbers nowhere near where the OP is suggesting. I think the C's will probably bring both back on two year deals at a combined $5-$5.5 million per year.
