How about Glen "Big Rabies" Davis.
The drool was priceless.

I'm sure he would like that name. LOL

I like the name that's on the front page "Big Game Baby".

Exactly, Glen was in prime form last night.  He put them literally and figuratively on his back and they rode him to the win.

Glen has a knack for showing up in big games.  This isn't the first time he's brought some great play off the bench when it was really needed in the playoffs.

Love this ... ;D

"We're like Shrek and Donkey. You can't separate us."

-- Celtics guard Nate Robinson on his relationship with teammate Glen Davis

It has to be Shrek

Shrek Davis has a nice ring to it. like a Bond James Bond thing.

I love the guy.
Imagine last nights performance with 25 pounds of fat gone, more vertical, quicker feet, more endurance, better finishing around the rim, he would be a matchup nightmare for opponents.
I sure hope he realizes how much he needs to condition himself for his career to hit it's potential before it's to late!

That _was_ the performance with 25 pounds of fat gone. Have you not seen Davis last season?

Davis is in a phenomenal shape right now. You won't see him losing any more weight than he already has, and for a guy his size, you ain't going to get much more vertical, either.

Of course, this is not very relevant -- he'll just have to learn to play with what he has, and he does a great job of going after every ball, which is something you cannot teach.

I am quite pleased with what we've got in him.

I mean 25 more pounds.
I haven't seen him with his shirt off but I see 25 more pounds easy.
Just because he is in better shape than last year does not mean he cannot or should not push himself harder and strive for better. Did he get paid that 500,000.00 weight clause, I thought he lost that?

Nobody wants to hear it anymore, DMOPOWER, not that we wanted to in the first place.
The baby bashing was old when it started.
You can sit at your computer and cast out your judgements, but it's not gonna change the fact that Baby is a winner and he is in great shape and the fat issue is 'old' and those of us who always believed in him and loved him were right all along.
He just gets better and better and does NOT need to lose any weight. His body type is solid and just exactly what we need.

I've been calling the fat boy "obese" for a while.  He has 90% of his shots blocked.  He needs to lose some weight and get some lift.

But last night he was "OBeast".  First time in a long time I've legitimately had respect for Glen Davis.  He came through HUGE.   Thank god Bynum was on the bench otherwise he would have had every single shot blocked, but... give credit where credit is deserved.  He and Nate Robinson stepped up in a MAJOR way and we won the game because of them.

With that said... I 100% agree with Phil Jackson.   Boston played desperate and got away with it.  In what world does relying on Glen Davis and Nate Robinson in the biggest game of the season seem like a solid game plan?  That was the act of pure desperation.  You might as well have just thrown Scal and Daniels out there and rode them.  Early on in that game I came away finally accepting that the Lakers are better team.  Period.  They score at will.  They completely have been owning our squad defensively.  Chaulk some of that up to missed layups and wide open shots, but the Lakers have been owning us.  Boston has frankly played like garbage the entire series and shockingly has 2 wins to show for it.   Unless we have a historic night from Ray Allen... or we ride miracle performances from the 11th and 12th players on our bench while Bynum sits... the Lakers are going to easily win this in 6.  It pains me to say that... but seriously... our starters are getting dominated.

I don't know that the Celts were necessarily relying on Nate & Big Baby to win the game for them, but Doc certainly did the right thing leaning on them once they took things over.

I agree, MmBaby ... some players benefit by weight-loss, but I don't think Glen is necessarily one of those. I think his mobility is very good, his foot speed is great, he's in very good shape cardio-wise, and he has learned to adapt well to the weight he's at now and use it to his benefit, to create space and block off people in the post, even though his match-ups are usually a good deal taller than he is. The intangibles are there.

When the Celtics got him in the draft, I said that he reminded me of Charles Barkley/Dennis Scott (as far as weight problems not as far as skill set).  Many thought Barkley would wash out (like Robert Taylor did) because of eating habits, same for Dennis Scott.  Both of them played themselves into shape and became became a Hall of Fame player and a really good role player.

I think Davis minus 25 pounds could definitely fit that Dennis Scott role as a great role player.  But after watching him in this year's playoffs and last year's playoffs I'm not totally sure that he couldn't be a bigger player (no pun intended).

I don't know that the Celts were necessarily relying on Nate & Big Baby to win the game for them, but Doc certainly did the right thing leaning on them once they took things over.

I partially agree.  I think that Doc made a very brave/smart coaching decision in sticking with them when they wereobviously the most conssitent players last night (with the exception of PIerce who finally arrived in this year's finals).  However, if the Celtics had lost I think Doc would probably be getting slammed right now for leaving them in too long.

One more thing, I still can't believe that no other team even made him an offer after last years playoffs.  Leon Powe got an offer bug Baby didn't?  I think that's interesting, though looking back a lot of people on this board (me included) thought it should have been Powe and not Baby brought back.

Im sorry I guess you dident get the memo.
My parents didnt have children to make you happy, and you get to read my posts reguardless of weather you "want to hear it" or not.
I have read several of your post that I find almost silly and child like Yet I have refraned from trying to stifel your seemingly silly oppinions.
I am not bashing davis, like I stated in my original post I like the kid, I just want him to get in lean Bball shape.
I am sorry I may have higher standards for players discipline, and even more so when they are making multi millions of dollars.
I do think he will get in even better shape because I think he wont settle for less as you appear willing to.
Now for future refrence. Please address the topic not attack me weather you want to hear it or not.
You are certainly not going to quit posting things I dont want to hear, of course I am not going to try and silence your thoughts.
On that note go celts and have a nice day!

Glennzilla is good but I still like "The Wrecking Ball". He's kind of like one. It's funny, sometimes you don't notice him come into a game but then you see this C's body knocking people around and you realize he's in the game. Yeah, to me, he's more of a 'wrecking ball'.

No they are nothing like Scal and Daniels that's pretty bad analogy.  They are both very talented NBA players (11th or 12th ???) and Bostons main strength has been depth for past 3 years.  It's like some of our fans are watching a different team (not really just hate).  You have been off like a very vocal few with regards to Davis the whole year (whole career, powe).  I do partially agree though that the starters have to play better (they weren't dominated either) to take home #18.  I think they will though, just like I knew Davis elite skills would be huge for this team...  You and the very vocal few should continue sleeping (hating) on him though so as to not change a thing.  It's like a good luck omen.  TP and keep up the good work. : )
