I know we usually do an official report on the refs before the game but I really needed to just post this....

Scott Foster, Greg Willard, and............. Eddie F. Rush.

Seriously, go to hell, David Stern. If this isn't a middle finger to Celtic fans what the hell is? I am so done with this league after this season.

I would actually say that this group is pretty good for the celtics

AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!  Eddie F Rush ???

The other two, I couldn't care less about.  Eddie F. Rush is the WORST official in the NBA.  This guys shouldn't even have a job.  Forget about him tossing Perkins for nothing.  He is a terrible referee.

anything with eddie f rush in it is never good. i do not want pro celtics. i want good competent officials that allow the best team to win the game.

Officials officially dont matter to me any more. There is no way to feel good about watching these finals if I keep thinking about it. It is easy to get sucked into and Im done doing so.

If we come out and play agressively we will win point blank period.

I could careless who the refs are tonight if and it's a big if with how the officiating has been, they call a fair game.

If they do, I could careless who the officials are.

Records show Donaghy placed 134 calls to referee Scott Foster — more than the 126 calls Donaghy made to his bookie — between October 2006 and Apri 2007, the period during which he's confessed to either betting on games or passing on game information to gamblers

And here's the really bad news for Stern

The majority of the phone calls lasted no more than two minutes and occurred prior to and after games Donaghy officiated and on which he admits wagering.

How does the NBA rescind a technical given by our guy Eddie F..... and then reward him 2 weeks later!? There is just no common sense with this league. Everything they do is so backwards.

Since the thread is already here, I'll just add my report to the thread:

Today's Official Report:

Cartoon courtesy of Larry Johnson, WEEI.

Today's Referees are:

Scott Foster
Home Team W/L 47/34
Home Team Playoff Win % 60%
Calls 46 fouls/game
46.4% of fouls called on Home Team
.7 T's called on road Team, 1 T called on home team

Foster has officiated over 720+ regular season games and 25+ play-off games. Foster has 2 years officiating experience in the CBA. Prior to becoming an official, Foster modeled for department store mannequin mold makers. He came into the public eye as the best friend of former referee Tim Donaghy. In his book, Donaghy describes Foster as a very honest and good guy who knew nothing of his gambling. However, recently Donaghy described Foster as a company man who will do what is asked of him to keep his seniority among refs. He hasn't given the Celtics any big problems with bad calls that I recall. He officiated Game 5 in Miami, which the Celtics won and game 4 in Orlando, which the Celtics lost.

Eddie F Rush
Home Team W/L 45-27
Home Team Playoff Win % 75%
Calls 49.7 fouls/game
41% of fouls called on Home Team
1.5 T's called on road Team, 2's called on home team

Rush has officiated over 1,300+ regular season games, 140+ play-off games and 9 NBA Finals games. Prior to joining the NBA, Rush worked high school games before progressing to college and professional basketball leagues. Eddie F. Rush is the only NBA ref to have officiated the last game of the NBA Finals for the last five seasons (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009). He was the least liked ref by Cavs fans because he was the only ref that called more losses for them than wins. Rush has called 4 games for the Celtics so far this post season: Game 2 in Miami (W), Game 1 in Cleveland (L) and Game 6 in Cleveland (W) and the infamous Game 5 loss in Orlando. Rush proved himself to be one of the most inept (or corrupt) refs in the league in that game. Calling a double T on Perk for just helping Pierce up was a terrible call. But then he made another terrible call and gave Perk a second T for complaining about it. There can be no doubt that either Rush is an absolute idiot or he had an agenda in that game to make the Celtics lose. I am blown away by the fact that Stern has Rush officiating another Celtics game in the finals after that debacle. The way I see it, Rush owes the Celtics one. I know that Tommy Heinsohn is not happy about this as Rush is one of his least liked refs. Here is a video to remind you of Rush's ineptness.

Greg Willard
Home Team W/L 44-30
Home Team Playoff Win % 64%
Calls 46 fouls/game
49% of fouls called on Home Team
0 T's called on road Team, .0 T called on home team
Willard has officiated over 1,100+ regular season games and 75+ play-off games. Willard also officiated the 1992 Japanese Opening Games in Yokohama. Before working for the NBA he accumulated 4 years of CBA officiating experience, 7 years in college level and 22 years in high school level in California. He called a technical on Yao Ming in a game in 2007 for saying "ahhhh" after a dunk. He is known for being wildly inconsistent in calling charges/blocks. Willard called game 4 in Miami, which the Celtics lost, game 5 of the Cleveland series, which the Celtics won and Game 3 in Orlando, which the Celtics won.

At least one of these 3 refs was on duty in 4 of the Celtics 7 losses in the playoffs. My biggest worry in this one is Rush. He is just so bad that who knows what will happen. We could set a record for having players tossed on technicals.   Willard and Rush were also on duty in what Bill Simmons called the most atrociously officiated game of the 2007 playoffs. Here is Simmons' description of that "atrociously" called game:

Quote
Congratulations to Greg Willard, Tim Donaghy and Eddie F. Rush for giving us the most atrociously officiated game of the playoffs so far: Game 3 of the Suns-Spurs series. Bennett Salvatore, Tom Washington and Violet Palmer must have been outraged that they weren't involved in this mess. Good golly. Most of the calls favored the Spurs, but I don't even think the refs were biased -- they were so incompetent that there was no rhyme or reason to anything that was happening.

Do you guys think it would be possible to put together a crew where all three guys were good?  I just don't think there are that many good refs in the NBA, especially if you don't want them working every Finals game.

Officiating is in a sad state.  I think the number of refs who are actively biased is probably pretty small, but the number of officials who are wildly inconsistent / borderline incompetent is way too high.

So, one on Perk, two on Sheed, and they both sit next game?  :P

plus javie and Wunderlich are injured, and they are considered two of the better ones. at the very least, their names do not make me want to punch a wall, like rush, salvadore, bavetta, or crawford.

Can I make a prediction, in Tim Donaughy style, as much as I'd hate to say it, Rajon is going to be in fouls trouble tonight.
Anything is possible!!!

I find it suspicious that the best two refs are injured during the Finals. ;)
