So I've read on a few occasions that while the call seemed obvios, that upon review Pau Gasol obviously flopped on that final offensive posession.

Does anyone have a clip of that? I'd be interested to see it again.

I also would like to see the one that Ray had called on him when the Celts were down 1 in the 4th.  Not because I don't agree with the call, I just never saw it, and ABC doesn't like to show replays of fouls a lot of the time.

Was that one a legit call?
Yup

I knew they were going to call an offensive foul on anything close going into that play because of the missed foul on the rebound that allowed the Celtics to get the ball.

KG shoved Gasol for absolutely no reason. Gasol was already completely out of the play as Ray was swooping in for a left handed layup. Just a complete mental breakdown on KG's part IMHO. It's such a shame too because KG had such an amazing all-around game. Pau was smart to flop because he obviously got the call. Had KG not shoved Pau for no reason, Pau would have no reason to flop and thus Ray would have had an uncontested lefty layup.

Amen.

Even if KG would have kept his hands completely down by his side and was completely still, the refs were looking to even up the prior botched call.

It was clearly a foul, and a dumb one at that.  Whether Pau flopped or not, KG made a big mistake on that play.  Ray missed the layup anyway.

Even if Gasol did flop....KG had his hands/arms extended.

It was a clear shove and an obvious call.

It never should have gotten to that point though...we should not have come out with such a weak first half performance.

Though I have no proof of this I am convinced that a coaching philosophy that international coaches teach their players is that if you are beaten on a play and it looks as if you are going to give up 2 or 3 points because of that, flop. Fall down. Flail your arms. Look like you have just been shot and die dramatically.

I mean, what's the harm. You're beat anyway and your are going to give up points so why not attempt to fake out the refs and get a foul that will nullify the basket. What's the worse they can do? Not call it?!?!

I am convinced that KG made some contact and that he did so with the worse possible part of his body, his hands to Gasol's mid section. I am also convinced that Gasol saw he was beat and was giving up an easy two and flopped his best flop. Technically a foul because of the contact. 80-90% of other bigs would have just moved back slightly from the contact. Gasol made it look like Garnett unloaded on him with Magnum.

Yeah, even if he had kept his hands completely down...Which he didnt, at all... In fact he two handed shoved Gasol. What a bonehead play. How anyone would argue against the fact that this should not have been a foul is completely ridiculous. He shoved Gasol out of the way in clear sight when Ray already had a perfectly clear path to the basket...Just dumb.

Sadly Ray missed the layup... I'm thankfully for the foul so Ray didn't tie the record.

Interesting back in 08 KG would punish through Gasol's flops and there would be no whistle.

A play with Gasol flopping doesn't narrow down the search much  :P
