Im not a coach but i can see that Paul Pierce whos your best player comes in and hits a big 3 pointer and the game is close what happens next? you keep calling plays for Ray Allen who played crappy defense and was terrible offensively all game long? he didnt even make a free throw? Phil Jackson was going with Odom it was easy for Pierce to just dribble to the basket and get fouled every possession!

Call me crazy if you want but Doc layed an egg! Tony was killing Bryant defensively and took him out of the game Ray couldn't defend Fisher or Bryant all game long and he keeps him in the game but the bigger question is when the game is on the freaking line you call plays for your hall of famer and best player in green not a jump shooter and live with jump shots!

Yep.  That's why I started a thread asking why Doc didn't bench Ray.  He's been so good these playoffs, but this was a head scratcher.

Paul gets another foul and has to head back to the bench....

I was actually hoping TA stayed in at the end as well, but I understand Doc thinks Ray will always be Ray (his shots at the end of the game had just as much chance to go in as last game's).
But with that said, I wouldn't run a play or specifically look for Ray and give him the ball, I would give the ball to KG (who was on fire) and if he finds Ray open, let him shoot it. But not look to give Ray the ball like it happened.
Anything is possible!!!

We didn't necessarily have to go to Paul either.

After Paul made that 3, we went to KG twice and scored both times.

Allen misses a couple 3's and then Paul hits a shot for a 3 point play attempt.

I think we should have gone back into KG and then if we could kick out for Ray or Paul for an open 3....it would be better offense.

Ray couldn't defend Fisher or Bryant all game long

This isn't a fair statement, and basically nothing in your entire post is. Fisher scored b/c of crappy pick and roll defense by the Celtics. This is called team defense. Kobe and Fisher were running a two man game and you can't put that on Ray. Not fair one bit...it's just as much Rondo's fault or any of the other help defender and switch defenders.

Kobe Bryant had 29 but by no means was he unstoppable, or great tonight. I thought Ray kept Kobe in front of him. Go take a smoke break next time after the game instead of going straight to a forum all angry. You hate Ray Allen tonight b/c he shot the ball horribly, so you are ready to crap all over everything he did tonight, when in reality his defense and passing were pretty good tonight.

Our 2nd half defense was very good.

It was our failure to execute down the stretch that cost us.

The Lakers failed to execute in Game 2 and we did.

Fisher played the role of Rondo tonight.

With Rays shot off and the LA defense all over ray, Why didnt The great Doc have Ray post fisher up?
Maybe a couple short shots, or a few free throws would have gotten Ray off, and a foul or two more on fisher and he is gone.

the only issue i had was him taking garnett out in the first quarter with 6 minutes to play when KG was rolling...then PP got the foul and boston had a line up that allowed the lakers to go on that huge 21-6 run. should have kept KG in the game. I had no problem bringing ray in. tony was gassed and i always think ray's next 3 is going to drop...i didn't like the quick 3 by ray from the corner with 1:30 to play and boston down 4. i would have played through KG

The 2nd quarter was terrible, posting up big baby against bynum, and Nate just dribbling around. No offense at all.

I didnt understand his strategy there.

That wasn't Doc's strategy.

His offense created the shots Pierce and Ray usually hit with a good %.

The only change he should have made was when it was clear these shots were not falling was to attack the rim more.  Give it to KG more, he was unstoppable.  That, in turn, would have created more lanes for Pierce and Ray to slash to the hoop without the basket creating easy shots to get them going or more trips to the line.

But, the lose is on the bad shooting.

The defense was there last night.

It's so easy to blame the coach when the shots don't drop. If Ray shot a horrible 30% from the field tonight and a bad 25% from three by making 2 three pointers and 2 non three pointers and went 2 for 8 from three and 4 for 13 from the field, Doc is a genius and the Celtics win.

Just four baskets. Just four baskets by a guy who if he takes 13 shots usually makes 6.

That's the difference between Doc being an idiot and Doc being a genius.

Amazing how that happens!!
