The Lakers played more aggressively and tenaciously down the stretch.  They also dominated on the boards all night.  You can blame the refs, but I think they did their best.  The Lakers had home court advantage, and they made the most of it.  Can't complain about that.

Ok, then please tell me why 1 qtr was completly different from the first 3? I don't buy that all of a sudden LA figured it had to be more aggressive in the 4th when they were getting beat all game. The only thing that changed was the type of calls that started going in their favore.

we stopped being aggressive and our lack of scoring was allowing them to attack us in transition. It’s very simple basketball. If you think that this was refereeing then you need to pay more attention to the game within the game.

So La wasn't aggressive until the 4th? Thats false.

Sure, they were aggressive for most of the game.  But in the fourth they found ways to get inside and force the officials to call fouls.  The Celtics appeared to run out of the energy to defend without fouling.

Give the Lakers credit.  They did what they had to do and they made the most of their home court advantage.  The Celtics didn't have quite enough to get the job done.  The Lakers had guys who could hit shots - Artest, Odom, Fisher etc.  The Celtics didn't get enough of that from their guys (Ray in particular was sorely missed on offense).

- how about the tech they called on Pierce when Artest wrapped his arm around Pierce's arm ?
- how about the tripping call on Ray when Kobe didn't even go down, he intentionally locked his foot with Ray's and made a lame attempt to shoot to draw the foul
- how about the foul on Sheed when he hit all ball
- how about Gasol flailing and Fisher flopping and Kobe hitting Ray's arms every time he got the ball

this is all true and more.
The NBA is a joke and NOT pure sport.
Championships are not supposed to be determined by this stuff.
It happenned in just about ALL the other games but our boys were able to win IN SPITE of it.

the NBA is a farce.

good day.

could not agree more. the game was a joke and the better team is coming back to boston tonight.

the whole world saw it and the celtics were the better team this series, and they were the better team tonight.

i am sad because i love the game of basketball but after tonight, all emotion aside, i can say i am done with the nba.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
Shameful 4th quarter...  The NBA should be embarrassed...

But the first 3 were called quite well, and if anything, and number of things had a blind eye turned toward them.  But a terrible way to finish out a series like this...

Forget Game7, Lakers got gifted a championship. Kobe knows it, we know it, and I know it. I'm disgusted by the officiating in this series. Love the Celtics, but I can't stand the NBA. With a straight face, Can you say Officiating didn't favor one team more than the other? Hell NO! Can you say both teams got a fair shot? Hell NO! Poor Sheed.

Stern you win, I quit. DONE

If you think it was fixed, then walk away.

It's so easy to do.

Stop watching.

Stop posting.

It's the only logical thing to do.

i will

i glad a saw a championship before i quit the nba, but now realsing that it about as real as peter pan i will no longer follow it.

I can take losing i followed the team as they lost smething like 17 in a row, but i'm not going to follow make believe. After today they the c's can win 10 straight titles and i wouldn't care.

we will have to settle for NCAA for pure basketball.

Some glorious day when all the controversy piles up high enough and Stern retires or dies, once again we will have fair sport in this league, but not until then.
I feel most sorry for the players on our team and other teams who have been denied gratification by these dark times
in the NBA.
As the FBI said to Tim Donaghy, fixing games is legal.

Fare thee well my brethren.

Sad to say that they have similar issues. I remember Nova getting about a dozen gifted calls to push them into the second round in their 2/15 matchup this year...all about the benjamins.

Always fun to see a fan who definitely won't stick to their word.

A real fan will never turn their head on the team.

granted there is the rare occurence of it in the NCAA but it is rare. There is no controversy like this. The NBA is being exposed and becoming more and more obvious to a THINKING mind exactly what is going on.

Some of you guys will never realize how hard it is to officiate until you are thrown into action.  Some of you guys will never realize how hard it is to officiate when you are 6'0 trying to see through and around 7 foot players.  Some of you guys will never realize how hard it is to officiate when you have to learn discretion in not making everything a foul.

etc. etc.

I honestly think its easier to officiate from a tv monitor, because you can actually see the whole floor.

Refs, like us and players, are human.  Get over it

The whole thing is that there's a reason the Lakers played aggressively down the stretch and the Celtics couldn't close it out.  If you know you can fling your body around and push and shove and swing at the ball with impugnity, your style changes.  If you keep watching the other team trot to the line, say at a 19-6 clip, and are worried about fouling out, your game changes.  As "human" as the refs are, you're getting paid big bucks to call a balanced game, and that went away in the 4th.
