marshall,

I actually do not see the Lakers attacking the basket.

I see them chucking perimeter shots and grabbing offensive rebounds and then we are fouling them sending them to the line.

Exactly how do you "see it"? Based on what stats? In most of the first 3 games, they've dished the ball inside and played through Pau and Bynum. In game 1, they put up only 10 3 point attempts. Very low for the Lakers.

sexyscottish would be proud of this thread!  :D

the officiating sucks for the following reasons:
-inconsistency--> not just game to game, but literally quarter to quarter within a game

-politics--> a call should be made regardless of the name on the back of the jersey and their abilities.  a 10 day contract d-league rookie at the end of the bench should get the same call or no-call as lbj or kobe.

-egos--> the refs jobs are to call the game, not BE the game

_____________________________________________________________

stern should focus more time and energy in fixing the farce that has become the nba and its officiating and less time marketing the image he wants.  he would rather expand the profits globally and show players reading to kids and making trips to 3rd world countries than having an epic finals series with physical (not dirty) play.

the only time i watch the nba is when the celtics are on.  i legitimately havent watched a single nba game with two team who arent the celts in over 5 yrs.

Pau and Bynum both get majority of their inside shots on offensive rebounds. The Lakers do not specifically go into Pau or Bynum enough, considering how much of an advantage they are on the inside.

Lakers have taken nearly 400 three point shots in the playoffs (About 70 more than the Celtics, a 3 point shooting team). And the Lakers are a horrible 3 point shooting team at 33% during these playoffs.

LA is in fact shooting an abysmal 23% from 3 point range in the Finals, yet have taken more 3's (+3) than the Celtics  & yet LA has the advantage (+10) at the FT line.

The last 2 games combined, the Lakers have attempted more 3 pointers than the Celtics (37 to 34), lost the points in the paint category (64 to 86) and fast break points category (12 to 23) and still have a healthy positive FT margin differential (64 to 50).

It doesn't make much sense except the refs can only be trying to level the playing field for the Lakers to makeup for their inferiority to the Celtics.

TP for some excellent stats to back up your point. Kind of refutes everything you see and read on Lakers boards across the net.

Agree with Marshall 100%.  I feel that all the whiny fans spouting conspiracy theories reflects poorly on all the rest of us Celtics fans.  When we play more aggressively, the calls are in our favor.  Imagine that.

One of the part owners(not Wyc or Steve) allegedly confronted Stern after Game 3. Awesome.

Saw that. And yet no $100,000 fine. I'm sure Mark Cuban will be all over that.

I think you have to think of it in a different way:

There are people that feel the league is really fixed and then there are people who feel that certain players or certain teams get unfair advantages as far as foul calls go (I sometimes belong in this group) and then there are people that just feel the reffing plain sucks (I always belong in this group).

I don't think you can say that you are a "better" Celtics fan than the next guy, because we don't know if there really is shady stuff going on. Which is the the whole problem. Stern is the commish of a league where lots and lots of people question the credibility (or lack of such) of said league and its referees. It really, really sucks.

I myself find it difficult not to question the authenticity of the officiating in the NBA when the NBA had a referee in their midst who was betting on games and passing information about how to properly bet on games to others based on who was officiating what games and also based on the behind the scenes communiques that he got to see but we never do and the NBA didn't know or couldn't figure out that it was happening.

Add to that his book and the evidence of repeated short phone calls to another official right around the same times he called in bets and passed info to bookies just before and after games and the mountain of circumstantial evidence that points to a possible corruption is hard not to at least take into consideration when one sees the horrendous and questionable calls that are made at important parts of games.

Our d has been aggressive and we are getting fouls called on us for it. We have not been allowed to play the same style of d that we played in the first 3 rounds. I suspect that you didn't read my first post to start this thread. I don't see a lot of whining here, if you call stating the obviouse whining, then I believe you are a little confused in your thinking.

What a surprise. They let us play tonight and stopped calling touch fouls. They let us fight for rebounds and allowed for a physical game. Kind of weird that the style changed after 3 games ::)

LA can't beat us when we are allowed to play playoff d.

I'm happy as  the next guy we won. But this is exactly what I thought was going to happen.

This is why I'm done with this league until that criminal Stern is gone. I was 100% correct about this series when I made this post after game 3.

I find it odd after three qtrs that the style of the officiating changed. How does that happen? This game went exactly how the league would have wanted it to go, one team up and then a "heroic" comeback for a story book ending.

Sure Boston could have played better, but if this game was CONSISTANTLY officiated, they would have won.

What we saw tonight was pure criminal.

yup, i am done with the nba until stern is gone. this was a travesty and the whole nation saw it. thought i would be inconsolable if celts lost but i am just depressed. a sport i loved is now dead to me. pathetic. the whole nation saw what happened and no one can deny the hatchet job the refs did to this game. this will go right next to 2002 western conference finals. as far as i am concerned, the celtics should hoist a banner next year because they won this game and they won this series.

Your're right, the whole nation saw it and I hope that something is said about it. 3 quarters they let the teams play, then in the most crucial one they decide to revert to game 1-3 bs.

This was manufactured, I can handle my team getting beat, but I will not recognize this LA championship.

I believe we should all form a support group with the Sac fans.
