An interesting little blurb from Yahoo's recent article on Lebron.

[Pat]Riley is also intrigued with signing Boston’s Ray Allen to get a shooter on the floor with Wade.

So now we know at least one team is definitely in the mix for Allen and he has somewhere to go should Boston choose to not resign him. Thoughts?

If the bulls get lebron, I wouldn't be surprised to see them sign Ray and go for the title. Can you imagine how well he would fit on that team?

Most contender teams will be interested in Ray. The question is whether they would be willing offer him more than C's.

I def see the Bulls in the mix too. Esp now with Thibs at the helm, Ray knows his defensive system very well.

If they do land Lbj, he'd Ray would fit like a glove there.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I think they will really have to overpay for him because he also, obviously, fits in with the Celtics, too. If the Bulls get Lebron, will they really have the finances to do it? I guess if Miami [only] gets Wade back, they might give it a shot, but I don't know if that makes them instant title contenders- too many holes still to fill...

If the Bulls get Lebron they might only be able to offer the MLE to Ray.  With Miami it is somewhat redundant as Wade and Ray play the same position.

I think it's really up to Ainge and management what direction they want to go in as Ray has made it known he wants to stay.

I think Wade is going to be very disappointed if the Heat spend a major amount of their cap space on Ray Allen.  Wade needs elite guys for the long term, rather than good complementary players nearing the end of their career.

Just for the record, Chicago won't have the MLE.  Teams that utilize cap space don't get the MLE (generally speaking).

In the article, it said that Riley was gonna try to convince LBJ or Bosh that taking less money would help them get a title. And then he would target Ray to add to that mix.

sign and trades for Ray could be possible though. I wouldn't be surprised if Hinrich and Deng are still on the table.

I agree. That's the type of move I expect from the clippers after missing out on all the good FA's, not from Pat Riley.

I wouldn't be surprised if they try to use Deng and Hinrich to get Bosh from Toronto, since it's pretty much out there now that Bosh is interested in going where LBJ goes.

that would make sense. Also, Deng doesn't have much value to the bulls if they land lebron.

I'm no salary cap expert, but is this lineup a possibility?

Noah, Bosh, Lebron, Ray Allen, Rose

I would be really surprised if Ray Allen is not back with the team next year. He likes us, we like him. His family is tied to the area and he knows all our systems. Additionally since the pre trade meltdown from stress he has looked like the most youthful member of the big three. Unless we get a knock our socks offer in a sign and trade I am not sure why he would leave. There is a possibility there is a team with lots of cap space (heat, knicks, nets) that whiffs on bigger targets and offers to overpay him because of his name. However, I dont think at this point in his career he would go to a crappy team for less money.
