I couldnt have been more excited when i read these comments.

Granted they are somewhat true, I think its all KG needs to motivate him to CRUSH that ugly spaniard

and now hes trying to go back on his comments and blaming the media

It's great that Pau can talk after we gave him a nice game.

In reality though, if we do our jobs Gasol doesn't go for 24 and 14.

If we had just contained guard penetration and put a body on Pau he would not have had 5 oRBs and 7 of his points.

He would have just a solid 17 and 9 game. Not exactly dominating.

Pau Gasol is a Clown. Silly Fakers, tricks are for kids.

Now it's up to KG to prove him wrong. Because after game one, if that's all Pau said then he was being nice.

I do hope this makes KG and the other Celtics mad hearing the Lakers talk junk after just one win. But their performance from game one should be enough to  motivate them for game two. If you actually need motivation for a Finals game.

As much as I HATE LA with a passion they're too good to beat with the way Boston played in the first game. And KG can't put up a stinker like that again.
Peace through Tyranny

Pau is right. The media chopped up his initial answer in an effort to create some conflict and completely misconstrued his views/answer of Garnett in the process.

This was all a media created story.

Oh the irony of these words coming out of the man they call soft.  I have to admit, I look forward to seeing KG's response to Gasoft tomorrow  ;D

Amare, in the Suns series game 1 called Lamar Odom "lucky" and Lamar proceeded to tear Amare a new hole the entire series.

Let's see what KG does with Gasoft calling him "old" and indirectly hinting at "soft".

Exactly right. Gasol was hardly being disrespectful.

Gasol didn't really insult him at all and he is right the media did twist what he said, but whatever.

What I don't get is why everyone is saying this should fire up KG.  How the heck can you not already be fired up when you're playing in the NBA Finals?! If you need something like this to get you to show up and play something is seriously wrong.

more and more of me is thinking the zen master is behind all of this. Out of all of our offensive weapons, KG is the last guy i want creating offense. With Pau's comments, KG is going to look to make pau eat his words and thats not what we want.   We need the offense to run through rondos dribble drive and layup or kick to allen for 3, or PP isolation.  KG is not what he used to be.

Nice try Phil but us bostonians are smart fellas, we know what your up to and it wont work!

Go Cs Go YEA!

Well, I didn't look at the box scores from that game until a full day afterwards, and I noticed that our frontline matched theirs - pt for pt. I thought that to be a good thing.

I'll take KG's 16 pts in that game - our offense doesn't (and has never) been based off of KG, and KG knows that. Our offense runs through KG.

As long as KG slows Pau down, then we win Game Two, and beyond. Obviously, Pau is their number two man now.

Bynum's game hasn't changed, nor has Phil's faith in him - Bynum still occupies the bench in crunch time.

As long as KG doesn't take this stuff personal, we win. I will be very afraid if KG comes out trying to put up 30 shots. A young KG never played like that, trying to outscore his opponents, and this KG should not, either.

I feel good about today's game. Look for the panic from LA as we keep this one close and pull it out for a win.

  • You say when......
Well, now KG has to prove him wrong...keep a body on him, gasol can score, but kg can stop him...but KG has to stop that "help out D" and really cover gasol, and only gasol, he is enough to keep you busy and focused..he is now the lakers x factor, stop him......and bynum...there goes 50 points off the board...!

if you want Gasol to play better, be less intimated, try harder, be stronger, be more forceful, more desperate to win, etc....call him GaSOFT over and over and over........you might even push him into the hall of fame....

Paul Gasol is one of the best big men in the NBA, plain and simple. Here's hoping that KG comes out with a much better effort today or it could get ugly.

Agree Vinnie.  Plus, buying into the dumb "soft" commentary would be unwise if you're a member of the Celtics, which is why I don't love it when the blog pushes these ideas...
