My preference would be to hire Larry Bird as Head Coach, but I know that won't ever happen. Bird did a great job with the Pacers and was close to winning it all.
With Bird off the table, my top choice would be Jeff Van Gundy.
If JVG won't take it, then my next choice would be Avery Johnson.
No AJ, then I think a young coach like Mark Jackson might be the way to go with an obvious rebuilding job coming in the next couple of seasons.
I love #32, but I just don't know if he could coach Rondo, Sheed and some of the other personalities on our roster. Also don't know how many FA's would be jumping to come and play for McHale.
That is why I am hoping that Doc will come back, because I think if he will coach 3-5 more years, we may be able to rebuild via the draft and FA to make another run for a banner. I think Doc has a tremendous reputation now around the league and guys will want to come to Boston to play for Doc....if only he will stick around.
