Artest may more may not be a thug.

If he is, he's our thug.

A thug that will be raising the trophy in Boston to the embarrassment of all Celtic fans.

Wishful thinking.

Man - seeing some of the Posts here from LA fans, and after visiting SS and R after the game, you'd think that LA has already won the series...LA Fans crying after last night.....talking smack after the game...

You all are Really Smarting from 2007-08 huh?

the lakers beat us...they earned it...

they played harder...

competed harder...

and...

were more aggressive...

we will respond with the same...
Amen.

I still hate them with a passion.

Thug or not, Artest did by $18000 worth of court side seats for 2 fans.

This seems like a bit of an overreaction. Two guys got tangled up boxing out. It wasn't a dirty play, it was essentially nothing. The ref's had it right at first just letting them play on, then they had to go and huddle and give the double T's which was pretty absurd. This play happens all the time in basketball. It was really no big deal.

As for the other complaints...really? A little pushing and shoving and mind games go on constantly in the NBA. To single out those instances, and pretend Celtics players don't do equal things is a little far fetched.

I saw nothing in that game last night that I had any problem with in these areas. Problems with our defense and rebounding? Oh yes. But nothing that made me want to call anyone a "thug" (a term I hate anyways) or dirty. Sorry. This is grasping at straws and a bit one sided (you can't honestly say Celtics players don't do the same things).

yes, setting illegal screens with malicious intent and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHHnZff5S_k
are considered clean aggressive plays. I'm not going to sit here and say Artest hasn't had his share of plays that made him look bat**** crazy throughout his career, but the OP needs to understand that this team is ready to push back.

that right there is funny

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I don't understand the fascination that C's fans have with calling players thugs.

As much as it pains me to say to say it, I was really impressed with Fisher last night too.  He played a very efficient game.
Yup

This is a very physical game, and there's a big difference between an agressive player and a "dirty" player. When a professional player pulls down an opponent's shorts out of frustration, or goes into the stands in the middle of a game to have a fist-fight with a fan, it's safe to say he's in a class below-and-beyond most of the rest ... Artest is clearly such a player. Nothing he does surprises me, just the fact that he's even allowed to continue playing on this level. I don't think it's remotely realistic to lump KG in with the likes of Artest, Bowen, Laimbeer, etc..
You can lump Artest with Posey circa 2008. Posey was big on cheap shots.

The play that Artest did on Pierce to start the game was brilliant. I give him kudos for helping set the tone.

The "thug" label is kinda dumb. Players have their own rates of dirty plays. What is the point of drawing a cutoff line to say who is or isn't a thug?

Artest has always been acknowledged as one of the dirtier players in the league. To those who are bothered by this, I would say so what? We were extremely dirty in 2008. So long as you don't foul out or get suspended, it is all fair game at this point in the season.

I actually dislike Bowen the most thought because he does things that can lead to the most injuries when he kicks out people's feet as they are running or when he slides his feet under guys in the air. Artest is more Rodman like in that he just crazy, extremely annoying stuff.
