Watching KG tonight was painful . . .

I've been a fan of the guy since he was drafted and followed his career closely from Minnesota to Boston.


Tonight was just painful to watch.  I was so enthused after the Cleveland series that all the "he's aging too quickly" stuff was BS and that his knee was finally coming back after the surgery - but between the Orlando series and the abomination that was tonight I'm just depressed.

It sucks to see your favorite player look 50 years old out there and missing easy dunks - especially on such a big stage.

I hope he gets some of the KG back that we saw in Cleveland - they're going to need it if they are going to win this series.

Yeah, it was excruciating.  I mean, the whole game was pretty much an ordeal as a Celtics fan.  But watching KG look not just totally overmatched physically, but also out of it mentally, was really disturbing.

More than anything else, KG getting owned by Pau Gasol tonight was really difficult to handle.

Really it was just defensively that KG looked less than stellar.

A couple offensive sets: KG missed open shots &  that point blank layup x2.

Other than that on offense, KG was decent.

Since the Orlando series, KG hasn't looked quite the same.  He seems to have lost a step, making me worried that he over-exerted himself against Miami and Cleveland (when he was showing a lot of athleticism and energy.)

Still, I'm not willing to throw in the towel on KG yet.  He contributed a bit on the offensive end tonight (despite going up soft in the fourth quarter), and his defense up until tonight has been excellent.  However, it's fair to say that Pau isn't a good matchup for him, and that this could be an issue going forward.

He had to shoot, with ray out of the game they were just laying off of tony and clogging the lane so Rondo couldn't drive. That left KG and PP to try and score a majority of the points.

There is a simple and obvious explanation for this. He played poorly and he isn't the team's superstar any longer. No matter what happens in the game, Kobe comes out because he is the man. Same with Lebron. But there is no reason why KG should be out there over Pierce or Ray at this point. KG has fallen back to the pack.

Granted he didn't get the line a lot, but 2 of those misses were on the botched point blank layup.

Had he converted he would have been 8-15 (18 points on 15 shots).
