Beasley is guaranteed $4.9 and $6.2 million over the next two years. Dooling has a non guaranteed contract for next year.
The Heat could, theoretically, have done the trade, cut Dooling thereby saving $4.4 million in cap space, and have had enough money to sign Wade another max guy and still had good cash left over to sign another significant free agent.
It was in my eyes a salary dump on Miami's part and jersey wouldn't take beasley because it would lower their space by almost $5 million since I can't see them keeping Dooling.
They won't keep Dooling. The writing is on the wall there.
Question is: does NJ think they can entice a free agent with its cap space? I tend to think the Nets would be better to use the space to take on salary via a trade.
they very well might, but why do the trade now, why not wait to see what plays out. I suspect, they may be able to just trade for Beasley later and use their cap space then, but why do it now.
